General Accounting Specialist
The position
Looking for a role where you will not only provide expertise in the areas of Financial Statements and General Ledger accounting processes, but also take part in process optimization and development of further innovative processes within the new GBS Centre? Help us build Financial Accounting department responsible for ensuring complete and accurate execution of dedicated steps with regards to financial closing and reporting for the assigned GBS countries.
Tasks & responsibilities
As a General Accounting Specialist, you are responsible for:
- Performing and monitoring the dedicated GL related closing activities for international GBS entities:
-Compiling group reporting packages to headquarters as the basis for group financial statements
-Preparing figures for local statutory financial statements (FS I)
- Performing the dedicated financial accounting and planning tasks for the assigned companies,
- Conducting compliance and plausibility checks,
- Performing account reviews and reconciliation (accounting review procedures)
- Preparing and posting journal entries during month- and year-end close,
- Acting as the first point of contact in GBS for the local and regional accounting staff and support the business partners regarding all GL related requests within the area of responsibility (2nd level support), keeping communication with the local accounting key users concerning GL related topics on a regular base,
- Ensuring prompt settlement of assigned GL issues with regards to evaluation, solution design and corrective actions (if necessary), including documentation and archiving of the respective issues,
- Ensuring that all GL accounts within the GBSC country responsibility are reconciled and the respective account balances are provable,
- Ensuring that all GL related documents and files are adequately archived in terms of completeness, form and traceability,
- Supporting interface with regional external auditors regarding year-end audit requirements of the dedicated entities (including technical and/or organizational matters); supporting management responses for audit findings within the area of responsibility,
- Supporting interaction with regional public financial auditors on questions to GL related items of the assigned companies; participating in preparing answers in cooperation with peers from OPUs, subledgers and/or tax department,
- Participating in defined topics, projects and/or working packages
-Preparing and delivering internal and external trainings on GL topics
-Preparing and conducting internal and external meetings and workshops
-Supporting and sub-leading projects (e.g. deployments)
About our future employee
We are looking for a motivated person with 1-3 years of professional experience in an accounting department (General Ledger), preferably in a shared service set-up.
Additionally, we are looking for:
- Bachelor’s degree in accountancy or accounting courses,
- Good understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles,
- Good organizational and problem-solving skills,
- Attention to details,
- Distinct empathy, team spirit, accountability, intrapreneurship, and a high service orientation with customer centricity,
- Positive approach with ability to come up with ideas in our Speak-Up culture and actively participate in process optimalization,
- Good SAP know-how and working experience with the ERP system, (preferably with SAP S4Hana) would be a strong asset
- Good knowledge in MS Office Tools,
- Good customer-oriented presentation and communication skills,
- Good English in reading, writing and speaking (min. B2 level)
- High quality awareness, resilience, and independence considering changing requirements.
