Process scientist

The Position

Serve as the scientific expert of reference for MSAT and the Global Supply Chain regarding BIAH products, processes, and analytical methods. Provide guidance throughout the entire product/process lifecycle as well as for new GI AH product developments.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Guide and influence decisions related to new technologies to define future manufacturing platforms.
  • Lead the development, maintenance, and enhancement of the scientific corpus related to BIAH products, processes, and analytical methods.
  • Independently deliver scientific/technical outputs and projects, including cross‑functional initiatives, acting as project leader, contributor, or program owner.

Tasks and Responsibilities

Scientific Expertise – BIAH Products & Processes

  • Provide scientific/technical guidance for change requests.
  • Analyze complex data and prepare reports to support decision‑making.
  • Provide scientific leadership in problem‑solving, root‑cause analysis, technical transfers, manufacturing deviations, validations, and analytical testing.
  • Design and lead experimental plans (within MSAT or external laboratories).
  • Respond to Regulatory Authorities’ questions (geographical extensions, post‑approval changes).
  • Develop strategies for process optimization and analytical method improvement, with potential impact on cost of goods.

New Technologies & Innovative Platforms

  • Explore existing technologies to define technological standards.
  • Draft technical position papers for MSAT.
  • Recommend and defend the adoption of new technologies, processes, materials, or methods, with a focus on cost reduction.
  • Propose forward‑looking technological platforms.

Development of the BIAH Scientific Corpus

  • Maintain a high level of theoretical and practical scientific expertise.
  • Lead the MSAT mentoring program and support scientists in developing technical skills.
  • Lead the technological expertise exchange program across MSAT teams.
  • Represent BIAH in industrial working groups.
  • Advance scientific knowledge within MSAT teams.

Technical Project Management

  • Represent Global Supply as CMC development team leader and MSAT point of contact.
  • Provide technical recommendations for user needs and product/process modifications.
  • Develop and lead cross‑functional projects/programs in line with project management methodology.
  • Manage scope, budget, schedule, and risks, ensuring regulatory compliance (EHS, VICH, Corporate, GxP).
  • Implement communication tools (project charters, monthly reports).
  • Ensure and measure customer satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.

Organizational Engagement

  • Actively contribute to the dynamics of the local MSAT team.
  • Promote the EHS culture within BIAH.

Desired Profile

Education

  • PhD in a scientific discipline (pharmacy, chemistry, engineering) or engineering degree with at least 10 years of industrial experience or Master’s degree in a scientific discipline with 12+ years of industrial experience.
  • Experience with liquid dosage forms.
  • Ideally, experience in cross‑functional management.
  • Expertise in innovative technologies/sciences is an asset.

Skills & Leadership

  • Demonstrated technical leadership, influence, and people development.
  • Proficiency in English.
  • Availability for occasional national and international travel.
  • Agile leadership experience preferred.
  • Ability to influence diverse audiences, from individual contributors to senior leadership.
  • Deep scientific expertise and leadership in the relevant discipline.
  • Proven experience mentoring experts and influencing peers.

  • Compensation paid over 14 months (for a full year), with profit‑sharing and incentive agreements.
