Medical Science Liaison

The Position

 

The Medical Science Liaison is part of therapeutic area MSL team within Cardiovascular-Renal-Metabolic  (focusing on Obesity/MASH), who reports to therapeutic area Medical Advisor. The focus of this role is field based scientific exchange and will leverage their scientific background, industry knowledge, and business acumen to act as a scientific resource to key external experts (KEEs), while gathering insights that inform scientific objectives and strategic decision making by Medicine. Within their territory MSLs are responsible for establishing, cultivating, and maintaining relationships with KEEs. Further, the MSL functions as an extension of the medical information group to provide product and pipeline therapeutic area expertise to HCPs, and as a scientific expert to internal stakeholders within Medicine and Commercial groups, and is expected to communicate seamlessly with cross-functional team, and perform all activities in a compliant manner.

 

Task & Responsibilities:

  • Engage in peer level dialogue with key customers and deliver appropriate clinical/scientific content through multiple channels in a compliant manner
  • Develop and implement EE (external experts) engagement plan, and maintain strong scientific relationship with EEs of strategic importance to Boehringer Ingelheim products/pipeline
  • Recognize and capture medical insights or intelligence, feedback to medical and cross-functional organizations to be actioned in support of the strategy development
  • Develop and implement field medical plan and activities including but not limited to data dissemination, advisory board meeting and CME/SEM (continue medical education/scientific expert meeting)
  • Deliver Boehringer Ingelheim product/pipeline asset specific training, and provide key scientific updates to external and internal stakeholders (Commercial, Market access, HEOR, PV, Regulatory, etc.)
  • As necessary, initiate and support local data generation activities including scientific publication, company-sponsored research and local trials programs (e.g., Phase IV studies, IIS (investigator-initiated studies), NIS (non-investigate study), PMS (post marketing surveillance), EAP (expanded access program) etc.
  • Provide responses to unsolicited request for medical information 

 

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree, PharmD or PhD in Life Sciences or a scientific discipline related to Pharmacy
  • Minimum 2 years working experience in MNPC
  • Good knowledge of clinical study methodology, study design, data review and analysis, publication processes
  • Excellent planning, presentation, and project management skills to deliver on complex tasks within timeframe and milestones
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to communicate internally and externally using multiple approaches
