Medical Affairs Lead (12 Months Contract) - Specialty Care

The Position

Reporting to the Head of Medical Affairs, Specialty Care, we have an exciting opportunity for a Medical Affairs Lead based in Sydney, NSW.

The purpose of this role is to provide scientific guidance and robust medical direction to drive the business throughout the lifecycle of designated products. 

This role will also ensure that the right patients can take advantage of the right medicines by collaborating with internal and external partners for the success of the company.

Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Provides medical and scientific leadership/expertise to internal and external customers (Marketing/ Sales, Regulatory Affairs, Clinical Development & Operations Teams, Market Access, Pharmacovigilance, Key Opinion Leaders, authorities, consumers etc.) to ensure scientific objectives are realised and Boehringer Ingelheim’s image is well supported in the marketplace whilst maintaining ethics and company standards.
  • Develops and drives the medical initiatives of the integrated brand plan for assigned products (scientific communication and engagement plan, medical education, IIS trials, NTA activity etc) and ensures its execution.
  • Supports the activities of the Sales and Marketing Department, with scientific justification of promotional claims and provides strategic medical input into all brand activities
  • Supports the activities of the Clinical Development & Operations Team, with input into site selection and involvement in site engagement to support trial recruitment
  • Ensures the appropriateness and accuracy of promotional material according to local legislation and codices, to manage and minimize any potential risk related to the reputation of Boehringer Ingelheim.
  • Critically analyses competitor promotion and activities.
  • Trains, educates, and supports related OPU functions (e.g., MSLs, marketing, sales force, regulatory, medical information, pharmacovigilance, market access, clinical development & operations etc.)

Requirements

  • MBBS, BPharm, or PhD in Health Sciences
  • At least 5 years’ experience in medical affairs/clinical roles
  • Ability to work on planning for pipeline assets and build evidence generation plans
  • Good knowledge of clinical research principles and GCP
  • Must have excellent analytical and oral/written communication skills
  • Working knowledge of the Australian healthcare industry
  • Business acumen, delivering results, and a passion for innovation & teamwork
