Head of Purchasing, ASKAN

The Position

The Head of Purchasing, ROPU ASKAN ensures the implementation of Global Sourcing Strategies within the allocated Operating Units (OPUs). They influence and lead business partners and key stakeholders on regional/local senior Management level towards strategic decisions (make-or-buy) while maintaining/improving Boehringer Ingelheim’s business risk profile.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead, manage and develop Purchasing performance to achieve proper centrally stipulated Target Operating Model implementation in the Regional Operating Unit (ROPU).
  • Oversee a functional team of 11 sourcing professional in a matrix structure with accountability for a spend of 136 M EUR
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with senior stakeholders across the ROPU, acting as a trusted Business Partner (BP)
  • Leverage local market knowledge and mange relationships with external business partners to support sourcing strategies
  • Manage issues on a daily basis with respect to the ROPU including people issues, internal/external customer issues, priority setting, etc.
  • Drive governance towards local initiatives and accountability on total cost of ownership
  • Be an active member in the ROPU Finance leadership team and represent the ROPU in the respective global Sourcing communities, exchanging with peers in other countries and GBS Center Manila to leverage
  • Ensure all team members are aware of mandatory SOP’s including GxP requirements and are in compliance with such.
  • Act at all times within the local pharmaceutical standards/ethics/legal and ensure direct reports are compliant.
  • Report all adverse events to the local PV within the required timelines.
  • Follow all company procedures and processes with respect to Finance, HR, IT, etc.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree Business Administration or Pharmaceutics
  • Master's Degree (MBA) is an advantage
  • Minimum 6 years of leadership experience leading individual contributors or significant project
  • Experience in global sourcing governance toward local/regional and total cost of ownership, saving and NPV
  • Demonstrated ability in problem solving and decision making
  • Self-motivated and delivers against commitments
