Human Pharma Communication Manager


Role Purpose:

 

1.    We are seeking an experienced integrated product communications professional who can combine traditional PR expertise with digital fluency. The candidate will leverage internal support and external agencies to ensure consistent, impactful communications throughout all owned internal and external channels to strengthen reputation for our TA and/or non-TA specific content (such as Patient, Medicine, Market Access, etc.).

2.    As a professional and reliable business partner, contribute to maximizing business values and proposition through the planning and executing of communication initiatives/activities in line with the company business direction.

3.    Proactively gather information and collaborate with internal stakeholders to gain a thorough understanding of HP and the overall business strategies and activities to maximize opportunities.


Key Job Accountabilities:

 

Integrated Communications Campaign Planning & Media Relations
    Responsible for developing and executing integrated communications strategies and content (PR and social) for HP products/services, including launches, milestones, partnerships, scientific updates, events, internal comms, etc. 
    Act as an enabler to drive strategic storytelling, content planning, and streamline processes to consistently develop compelling and compliant local campaigns and messages that align with the Boehringer Ingelheim values and business needs. 
    Act as a bridge to the PR/digital agency or with corporate headquarters, to at times push back to appropriately localize global campaigns and adapt messaging for the Japanese market. 
    When required, partner well with agency to create product-focused content including but not limited to press kits, Q&As, social media content, infographics, and videos as appropriate.
    The role may require smooth collaboration with PGA (Public and Government Affairs) to work within aligned goals and messages with separate tactics and KPIs.
    Manage media outreach, media inquiries, interviews, develop content for press release, social media, and internal news, etc.
    Cultivate relationships with healthcare journalists, trade media, and medical editors.
    Manage issues related to safety and security matters to protect company reputation by planning and implementing appropriate communication plans.
    Monitor media coverage and provide insights to brand and medical teams.
    Prepare spokespeople and manage media training for product-related engagements.


Governance & Compliance


    Collaborate with medical, regulatory, and legal teams to ensure accuracy and compliance.
    Ensure all communications follow internal SOPs and industry regulations (e.g., PMDA, JPMA).
    Coordinate with internal stakeholders for timely approvals and risk mitigation.

Qualifications:

 

<Must have>
    Strong track records in integrated communications, digital/social, and media relations in pharmaceutical industry

  • 3~5+ years of experience in pharmaceutical communications and channel engagements.
  •  Direct hands-on experience in media relations and social media including but not limited to press release creation, press interviews, press events, PR/social content development, integrated campaigns, etc.
  • Proven track record of executing and managing integrated content strategies.
  • Excellent writing and storytelling skills in Japanese and English.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory environments and compliance in pharma.
  • Experience managing agencies and assistants.

    Strong Project Management Skill

  • Track record in successfully leading cross-functional projects, involving multiple stakeholders into successful outcomes
  • Critical thinker with ability to self-manage workload, including reprioritizing and delivery under tight timelines.
  • Multiple task management and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to bring project management tools into play for problem solving & risk management

    A good team player who can handle multiple tasks through the understanding of business objectives, context, professional communication, and interpersonal skills

  • Can easily build trusted relationships with stakeholders
  • Owns a communications mindset that can think about the company from an external perspective and with a broad objective viewpoint.

<Nice-to-have>
    Familiarity with CMS and social media tools.
    Experience and knowledge of website, SOE, and performance tracking.
    Knowledge of therapeutic areas relevant to the company’s portfolio.
    Experience in collaborating with patient organizations.
