Human Pharma Business Strategist | non-line manager or manager | Strategy & Analytics Dept

Role Purpose

Drive strategic decision making across Nippon Boehringer Ingelheim, including trade-off and investment decisions between evolving Therapeutic Areas and non-Therapeutic Area topics. Support the Human Pharma Leadership Team and/or Head of Human Pharma Business Unit by providing a holistic view of the business. The Human Pharma Strategist serves as a key driver of strategic decisions and an integrator of complex cross-functional and cross-TA decision-making factors.

The role is crucial in influencing the success of the Human Pharma business in Japan, both in the short and long term. Outputs from this role enable alignment on mid- to long-term Human Pharma strategy and support data-driven decision making regarding cross-Therapeutic Area/division prioritization and key business decisions.

Key Job Accountabilities

  • Identify, assess, and report business opportunities and risks, and contribute to the timely delivery of insights and recommendations for the Head of Human Pharma Business Unit and/or Human Pharma Leadership Team.
  • Analyze, identify, and assess internal and external factors that have the greatest impact on the Human Pharma business.
  • Develop and recommend plans to maximize Human Pharma business performance.
  • Develop an accurate understanding of cross-Therapeutic Area/division business questions and challenges.
  • Lead or actively contribute to projects that drive cross-functional and cross-Therapeutic Area initiatives based on Human Pharma strategic priorities (e.g., developing cross-functional operating guidance and establishing cross-functional priorities).
  • Monitor internal and external trends and changes and provide timely, accurate insights regarding risks and opportunities relevant to the Human Pharma business.
  • Support Human Pharma Leadership Team discussions and decisions by providing timely, high-quality information.
  • Provide insights and recommendations from a Human Pharma Strategy perspective.
  • Deliver strategic recommendations that support an optimal Human Pharma business model.

Qualifications

The role requires a visionary individual with broad experience and understanding of pharmaceutical development and commercialization, who can synthesize multiple internal and external information sources and accurately assess their short- and long-term impact on the Human Pharma business in a rapidly evolving industry environment.

Must-Have Background/Experience

  • Experienced professional with 10+ years of experience and a strong track record in management consulting.
  • Interest in and aspiration to work within the healthcare industry.
