EHS Manager | Non-line Manager | GFE NBI Tokyo
The Opportunity
We are seeking a seasoned and strategic professional to join Boehringer Ingelheim as the Environment-, Health- and Safety (EHS) Manager Japan, based in Tokyo.
The purpose of this role is to ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of our people, along with our commitment to environmental protection. The EHS Manager ensures that the EHS processes described in our EHS Management system are adhered to and continuously improved; whilst ensuring compliance with local regulations and corporate company directives.
The EHS Manager coordinates the country-wide EHS activities for >2,000 colleagues and operates in a Global Matrix Organization. This provides international exposure to local and global leaders from the very beginning on, and it requires the ability to effectively interact with global stakeholders in a professional and active manner.
This role reports to the Head of Global Facilities and Engineering Japan.
Accountabilities
・Ensure compliance with local legal EHS regulations and company directives by implementing and continuously updating the NBI EHS Management System.
・Ensure transparency of EHS Japan status towards Local- and Global Management functions, supported by defined EHS KPIs
・Understand globally defined EHS Strategies, cascade global guidelines to NBI Japan. Ensure required adjustments of global guidelines to Japan needs are considered.
・Coordinate Japan - wide EHS activities, among our Headquarter- and Field Force Office locations, our Kobe Pharma Research Institute, and our Pharmaceutical Production facility in Yamagata prefecture
・Lead and coordinate the local implementation of Global EHS programs, such as:
・Safety Promotion Program (BE SAFE)
・Global Sustainability Program (MORE GREEN)
・Global Health Program (MORE HEALTH), with a special focus on the global Occupational Health Strategy implementation
・Ensure EHS Audit preparedness of our sites and organization. Conduct internal EHS audits and work collaboratively with relevant functions to document findings and follow up. Ensure on time closure of identified CAPAs.
・Manage and strengthen the EHS Community within Japan. Promote continuous training and further development of our EHS colleagues, and establish culture of continuous improvement and innovation in EHS management
・Build strong stakeholder relationships with local- & stakeholders (HR, Legal, Business, IT, etc.) by implementing an effective-, professional- and proactive communication culture.
Requirements:
- Min. 3-5 Years EHS management experience, possession of required formal country certifications.
- Proven multi year track record in project- or other complexity-management in an international working environment. Experience in working abroad is preferred.
- Proficiency in audit management: Coordination of Audit reparation, support or execution of audits, audit follow ups and managing of CAPA closure.
- Strong Communication- and presentation skills, proven track record of Senior Management Stakeholder Management.
- Business fluency in English and Japanese is a must, along with intercultural collaboration competences. Japanese mother tongue is preferred.
- Master’s degree in relevant profession.
