Job Responsibilities:
Be responsible for leading and managing the Department of the Center of Chemistry dept.’s research and development activities. This role involves overseeing the planning and execution of research projects, managing the department's resources, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality research outcomes, and play a crucial role in fostering innovation, promoting scientific excellence, and driving the strategic direction of the department in alignment with the company's goals. Liaise with other departments, stakeholders, and partners to facilitate collaboration and knowledge exchange.
Manage and support Innovation Unit to speed up the launch of New APIs to the market by process research and development activities. Daily activities include but not limited to
- Overseeing the development of new products and services, file patents or publications when applicable.
- Acting as contact point for Innovation Unit and Analyzing customer (Innovation Unit) requirements and developing new products or product improvements based on those requirements
- Act as process expert and Guide and counsel other department members through synthetic problems they might encounter and contribute to their resolution.
- Provide project /group guidance and direction in process safety and compliance issue
- Clearly define project milestone, timeline and outcome expectation
- Timely prioritize projects, negotiate and allocate resources
- Communicate project progress and requirement to related parties on time
- Develop process optimization schedule and production plan to meet delivery requirement if necessary
- Address facility and equipment related issues to meet the delivery
- Provide technical inputs in scale up process development and optimization
- Assist department head in the development and implementation of strategic plans to meet the requirements for deliveries, budget, safety and cGMP compliances, capital projects, FTEs alignment and personnel development
- Take a leadership role in updating and establishing guidelines, procedures and SOPs to meet current industrial standards
- Identify improvement opportunity and provide technical and business assessment to senior management
- As a core team member of department management team, Provides input to the development of department strategy, budgets, project plans and timelines. Ensures technical and business requirements are managed and met
Requirements:
- Bachelor in organic chemistry, applied chemistry, analytical chemistry (or relevant areas )and 12+ years (or MSc with 9+ years or PhD with 7+ years) pharmaceutical or relevant experience.
- Strong technical background in a wide range of unit operations and good understanding of reaction mechanisms is highly preferred.
- Ability to function within a matrix project management environment, often functioning as a matrix project leader guiding the technical direction of project and driving scientific excellence
- Strategic mindset and good at balancing stake holders
- International exposure is desirable; experience in CRO/CDMO management is also preferred.
- Proven record of successful implementation of technology at commercial scale
- Strong interpersonal&communication skills. Strong leadership skills to encourage open collaboration, promote constructive feedback, and motivate diverse group of project team members
- Fluent in both English&Chinese.
- Agility in learning and dealing with dynamic and challenging environments.
- Willingness to travel when needed (Germany, US, China)
- As a mature leader and demonstrates strong leadership including acting as role model and motivating and developing talents as well as building talent pipeline within responsible areas.
- Contribute for speeding up of the new API launch to the market by application of new technologies and solving complex technical problems;
- Leads in the publications and patent application when applicable.
