Job Responsibilities:

- Act as trusted legal business partner to the leadership of Human Pharma and Group Functions on strategic, commercial and operational matters.
- Lead and provide proactive legal support to key and strategic projects of Human Pharma and Group Functions, including major business initiatives, high-impact transactions, cross-functional and cross-border projects, from early planning through execution and implementation.
- Lead, coach and develop the Legal HP&GF team to be a competent and trusted partner by promoting a professional, customer-focused and solution-oriented team culture.
- Establish, review and revise legal-related governance, procedures, policies and guidelines for Human Pharma, Group Functions and other related legal areas.
- Contribute to company risk management by identifying, assessing, and mitigating legal risks in Human Pharma, Group Function and other related areas.
- Lead the roll out of the global legal projects and initiatives in OPU China and coordinate OPUs Hong Kong and Taiwan Legal colleagues on related topics. Ensure implementation and adherence to global legal standards, templates, policies and procedures within the OPU China.
- Monitor a thorough understanding of the legal development, communicate with related government authorities to understand the most recent legal environment developments on life science industry, and advise leadership, related functions and Corporate on the legal interpretation, implications and opportunities for the company’s operations.
- Develop and maintain a solid industrial network, and closely work with industrial associations (e.g.: EUCCC, German Chambers) on life science topics.
- Handle local legal disputes through negotiation, mediation or litigation; provide legal support on product protection; handle government investigation. 
- Monitor and supervise external counsels; select, instruct and manage external counsels efficiently, ensuring quality and cost control.

 

Job Requirements:

- Over 10 years post-qualification experience in a reputable law firm or comparable in-house working experience in a reputable multi-national company, familiar with foreign direct investment, M&A, licensing, contract and general corporate work; experiences in life science industry are preferred;
- PRC Lawyer Qualification is a must;
- Good understanding of PRC law, sound business acumen and commercial awareness and practically-oriented, ability to identify and resolve legal issues effectively and independently; possesses excellent, creative problem-solving skills demonstrating significant knowledge of the business and an ability to balance legal risk with business impact. Strong aptitude for filtering decisions through organizational strategy.
- Has broad perspective and vision. Consistently, proactively mitigates and resolves issues and plans long range solutions. Capable of devising breakthrough strategies and plans.
- Excellent, persuasive written and oral communication skills required, including an ability to effectively and concisely communicate to and influence business leaders. Displays excellent judgment and discretion with respect to all communications.
- Strong digital literacy with an open mindset towards data-driven and AI‑enabled solutions, and the ability to quickly learn, adapt to and effectively leverage new tools and technologies to enhance work efficiency and quality.
- Self-motivated, hard-working, detail-minded, clear thinker, quick learner, team player, ability to work independently under pressure, and ability to lead a team.
- Proven people management capability with the ability to lead, coach and develop team in a complex and dynamic environment.
