Medical Affairs Lead, Oncology

THE POSITION

Throughout the lifecycle of Boehringer Ingelheim (BI) Oncology products, develop S. Korea Medico-Marketing strategies and leads the implementation of the corresponding OPU activities to achieve the Integrated Brand Plan (IBP) objectives. These strategies are part of a cross-functional effort (Medico-Marketing-Sales interaction) to provide scientific guidance and clinically meaningful information.

Ensuring that the right patients can take advantage of the full benefits of BI products. The strategics should help to drive the business for Oncology products.

 

Duties & responsibilities

1. Strategic:

  • The Medical Affairs Lead, Oncology is responsible for the tactical translation and execution of strategy at the OPU assigned which includes:
  • Leading the OPU brand teams together with Product Manager, translate, implement, and execute strategies and activities of BI Medication during product lifecycle
  • Operating in cross-functional teams (Marketing & Sales, Regulatory Affairs, Health Outcome & Pricing, Clinical Operations, Pharmaco-vigilance, and other functions)

 

2. Driving Business Results/Process/Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • The Medical Affairs Lead, Oncology is responsible for the maximization of drug commercialization efforts from a medical perspective, which includes:
  • Leading S. Korea in profiling the safety and efficacy of BI medication through communication of medical meaningful messages, sound up-to-date medical information, local generation and communication of relevant clinical efficacy/safety data and scientific exchange with external experts.
  • Developing, executing or overseeing scientifically relevant and innovative OPU MA programs which includes:
  • Clinical studies (Investigator Initiated Studies, Post-Marketing Surveillance, Non-interventional Studies, Named Patient Use and Extend Access Programs) and publication or programs with external experts
  • Applying understanding in both medical and business needs to create climate of effective Medico-Marketing Sales interaction and external partnership
  • Supports knowledge and skill sharing within the Medical affairs Oncology organization, and builds relationships with respective functions within the OPU.

 

3. Leadership/Supervision

  • Ensure that there are development plans for direct reports (MSL) and that they are being implemented on the agreed timelines
  • Ensure that proper coaching is provided.

 

Requirements

  • MD or PhD is preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years experiences in Medical Affairs and/or clinical affairs in pharmaceutical industry; with minimum 1-2 years of people managing experience
  • Good planning for project, even multiple. Experience in leading a project is plus.
  • Experience ideally in Therapeutic Areas of Oncology is preferred, but also open to other TAs.
  • Demonstrates cross-functional leadership with an open, collaborative, and proactive mindset to drive alignment and achieve organizational objective
  • Good understanding on life cycle of the product from pre-clinical to clinical. 
  • Good understanding on clinical trials and scientific data
  • Good interpretation and communication skills on science.
  • Good interpersonal skill
  • Proficiency for English in professional level and fluent in Korean are required
