Head of Medical Affairs-CRM

The Position

The Head of Medical Affairs (HoMA) for the Cardio-Renal-Metabolic (CRM) therapeutic area leads the medical strategy and execution for Boehringer Ingelheim in South Korea. Based in the Seoul office, this role is responsible for guiding the medical affairs team across the full product life cycle, ensuring scientific excellence, cross-functional alignment, and impactful engagement with healthcare professionals as well as other stakeholders per needs.

The HoMA plays a critical role in shaping and implementing local medical strategies that align with global and regional objectives. Through scientific leadership and collaboration, the HoMA ensures that patients in Korea benefit from BI’s innovative therapies, while supporting the business through evidence generation, expert engagement, and medical education.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and oversight of medical affairs strategies for Boehringer’s CRM portfolio in Korea
  • Drive the implementation of medical activities, including clinical studies excluding clinical development studies, publications, and expert engagement programs
  • Foster strong cross-functional collaboration with commercial, regulatory, and global medical teams to support product success across the lifecycle
  • Manage the medical affairs budget and ensure efficient resource allocation
  • Attract, develop, and retain top medical talent, fostering a high-performing and purpose-driven team culture

 

Requirements:

  • Medical Doctor (MD) degree required
  • 5–10 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, with a strong background in medical affairs, regulatory, or scientific roles
  • Minimum of 3 years of people management experience
  • Demonstrated strength in analytical thinking, communication, negotiation, and conflict management
  • High ethical standards and a strong sense of accountability
  • Proven ability to lead through change and drive cross-functional alignment
  • Strong business orientation with a passion for delivering meaningful outcomes for patients
  • Track record of excellence in executing medical affairs strategies and initiatives
  • Native in Korean language, Fluent in English
