System Engineer - Clinical Trials

Join our global IT organization as a System Engineer – Clinical Trials , where you will collaborate with the Drug Development Departments for chemical and biological entities. Your primary focus will be on working on a pilot global project aiming on overseeing the clinical trial supply process, through a cloud base SaaS solution. 

In this role, you will:

  • Work as part of a cross-functional product team to develop and maintain solutions that drive business success.
  • Ensure the operational excellence of systems and applications, maintaining compliance with Boehringer Ingelheim and regulatory standards.
  • Contribute to the technical advancement of our clinical trial supply system landscape.

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Act as the bridge between business needs and IT solutions, utilizing your expertise in systems and interfaces.
  • Contribute to the development and further advancement of software concepts and projects, driving innovation and sharing technical knowledge.
  • Take full responsibility for process and system maintenance, ensuring compliance throughout their lifecycle.
  • Design and implement product architectures, guiding projects from planning to launch for smooth transitions.
  • Drive the complete software lifecycle, including documentation, patching, updates, and access controls, as well as coordinate with IT, business units, and external partners for seamless operations and continuous improvement.
  • Solve incidents, problems, and execute system changes, and work with IT infrastructure teams on system migrations, replacements, or retirements, including legacy systems.

Requirements 

  • You have min. a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field, along with solid experience in IT (at least 6 years of professional experience).
  • Must have demonstrated understanding and experience with Infrastructure topics such as databases, servers, cloud systems, networking, interfaces and development up to containerization.
  • Proficiency in at least 3 of the following technologies/platforms:

OpenShift, Bitbucket, JIRA/Confluence, Jenkins, AWS, Python, TypeScript, ServiceNow, APIs.

  • strong communication and presentation skills in English
  • Your proven track record of understanding of system lifecycle and documentation requirements in GxP environments (GxP) will give you an edge in this role.
