Principal System Engineer
Join our multinational and multicultural team to develop our Network Security product, which includes Firewalls (Perimeter/Internal/Cloud), VPN Services, Business-to-Business connections, and Application Segmentation. Our team handles the full DevOps cycle, end to end responsibility, with day-to-day operations managed by our NOC team. We focus on continuous improvement, user-centric optimization, automation, enhancing security posture, and capacity planning to adapt to new technologies. Attendance at 1-2 workshops per year is expected.
Tasks and responsibilities
- Develop and Operate Security Solutions: Work with Palo Alto Networks Firewalls and SASE products alongside the Product Owner, Solution Architect, System Leads, and Subject Matter Experts as well es international customers
- (Deputy) System Lead tasks: Being accountable for design, operation, 3rd level support and qualification of the assigned systems
- Product Development: Drive and organize product development activities, gather requirements and feedback, and translate them into a prioritized roadmap. Ensure knowledge transfer to the 24x7 NOC team.
- Design and Plan Architecture: Contribute to designing a robust and secure Network Security architecture and lead global rollout activities.
- Liaison and Compliance: Ensure successful collaboration with IT teams, stakeholders, and business units, and ensure adherence to company policies, laws, and regulations.
- Documentation and Automation: Ensure proper documentation and drive automation and process improvement initiatives.
- Stakeholder Management: Identify and build strong relationships with global and regional stakeholders, prepare and update product status reports, and collect feedback.
- Continuous Improvement: Derive action plans for continuous improvement within the Product Team and NOC operational team.
- Service Delivery Monitoring: Monitor service delivery quality in alignment with operational team and IT global KPIs and OKRs.
- Inventory and Licensing Management: Manage product inventory, licensing, and maintenance renewal activities with vendors.
- Budget and Contract Management: Contribute to budget preparation and control, and participate in contract negotiations.
- Agile Work Environment: Work in a sprint-based, agile environment with the appropriate tools
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, MIS, or a related field with 5 years of experience or equivalent.
- Experience: minimum 2 years of experience working with Palo Alto devices and 5 years of experience in the networking security area
- Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of global security environments (Firewalls, VPN, etc.). Technical security certifications (e.g., Palo Alto Networks PCNSA, PCNSE, PCCSA) are a plus.
- Network Technologies: Experience with LAN, WLAN, DHCP, IPAM and other network technologies
- Project Management: Understanding of AGILE/Waterfall methodologies. Experience as a project manager is a plus.
- Cloud Knowledge: Familiarity with AWS and Azure is also a plus.
- Programming Skills: Practical understanding of programming languages, primarily Python, Ansible, is a plus.
- International Experience: Experience working in an international and intercultural environment.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written English skills. Understanding of cultural differences and how to handle them.
- Travel: Willingness to travel internationally.
- Soft Skills: Strong communication, team collaboration, customer orientation, and teamwork skills.
