IT Digital Forensics & eDiscovery Engineer
Join IT GFS Legal for Digital Forensics & eDiscovery in Spain, where you’ll operate with autonomy and global impact – ensuring legally defensible data preservation, collection & analysis across complex enterprise systems. You’ll be the go-to technical expert shaping methodologies including tooling, automation, and platform architecture in investigative context. Tasks and responsibilities
- Advise and educate stakeholders as an IT SME across Legal, Compliance, HR, GBS, and IP&S on digital forensics and eDiscovery capabilities, by providing timely guidance that enables informed legal and investigative decisions.
- Execute early data assessments and provide concise recommendations on scope, feasibility, risks and potential data gaps. Support legal hold and preservation activities, by confirming system-side preservation and defensibility.
- Perform custodial and non-custodial data collections, across endpoints, cloud storage, M365 workloads, network shares and other data systems.
- Drive project tasks, such as tool evaluations or system testing.
- Handle complex forensic examinations from start to end including but not limited to data collections, analysis, comprehensive reporting and technical advisory to support fact finding. Provide time critical support in context of Dawn Raids and High-profile investigations/litigations.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory privacy, and security requirements during evidence collection, handling and transfer including strict maintenance of chain of custody and other forensic requirements.
- Proactively identify and resolve risks, issues and delays and serve as escalation point for junior team members; escalate high-impact risks or issues promptly to lead team member.
- Drive the evaluation of emerging forensic/eDiscovery tools and technologies including collection techniques, and cloud-native investigation methods.
- Identify workflow inefficiencies and actively drive process, tooling and automation enhancements.
- Contribute to the development and updating of SOPs, templates and standards.
Requirements
- Bachelors/Master degree in a relevant field.
- 4+ years of progressive Digital Forensics, eDiscovery experience and/or Cyber Security
- Proven track record performing and overseeing end-to-end data collection, processing, and forensic analysis in high-stakes investigations and litigations and strong expertise in applying EDRM, ISO 27037 and other industry standards in your daily work.
- Deep digital forensics and eDiscovery expertise, with the ability to identify effective methodologies and investigate approaches when facing unfamiliar systems or use cases. Deep knowledge of eDiscovery and Digital Forensics toolsets (i.e. Cellebrite UFED & Physical Analyzer, OpenText Encase, Exterro FTK Imager, Volatility, Magnet Axiom and similar). Understanding, maintaining and driving workflow automation using Python, Git-based version control, and standard development tools (i.e. VS code).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities. Ability to articulate complex findings to nontechnical audiences. Solid organization and prioritization skills, with a high desire for continuous self-improvement.
- High discretion and judgement with sensitive matters. Ability to communicate in written / spoken in English. Detailed-oriented with a strong focus on documentation accuracy and self-critical view on personal work products.
