Spring Co-Op Vaccine Production

Description

Boehringer Ingelheim is currently seeking a talented and innovative Intern to join our Vaccine Production department located at our St. Joseph, MO facility. During this co-op, you will work on projects on manufactured biological products (vaccine, proteins, antibodies, etc.). The candidate will gain exposure and knowledge about the manufacturing processes for animal health.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed process mapping of antigen production workflows to document current-state operations and material/process flow.
• Perform time and motion studies to evaluate process performance, labor utilization, and operational efficiency.
• Collect, organize, and analyze production data to identify bottlenecks, rate-limiting steps, and opportunities for improvement. Assess both people-related and process-related constraints impacting throughput, cycle time, and overall production efficiency.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, technical operations, and production personnel to validate observations and improvement opportunities. Communicate findings and recommendations to production and leadership teams.
• Develop scalable methodologies and analytical tools that can be applied to additional production spaces to ensure appropriate staffing levels, operational efficiencies, and capacity utilization. The analysis will be transferable to other production areas.
• Always operate in a compliant manner with respect to documentation guidelines and current SOP’s related to experimentation, reporting data, and training. Proactively complete all training for BI, site, department, and functional training.

Requirements

• Must be a current undergraduate, graduate or advanced degree student in good academic standing.
• Student must be enrolled at an accredited college or university for the duration of the internship/co-op.
• Overall cumulative minimum GPA from last completed quarter/semester 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) preferred.
• Major or minor in related field of internship/co-op.
• Undergraduate students must have completed at least 12 credit hours at current college or university.
• Graduate and advanced degree students must have completed at least 9 credit hours at current college or university.

Eligibility Requirements:

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
• Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required).
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
