Description
Leads, coaches, and mentors direct reports to accomplish organizational and department priorities.
Responsible for managing the comprehensive certification, calibration and instrumentation program and processes; including ownership of all finances associated with the role, related SOP´s, data sheets and other execution documents. Responsible for the creation and revisions of all associated documentation that ensures our program is compliant with agency and industry regulations. Provides expertise in facilitating the acquisition of instruments and/or components that are required to compliantly operate our business.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Mentors, leads, coaches and develops employees; manages and addresses performance issues; and makes hiring, firing and compensation decisions to ensure individual and organizational performance currently and in the future.
- Communicates site and department goals and expectations to staff.
- Sets goals and expectations for staff with their input.
- Ensures conditions (time, equipment, etc) necessary for staff performance are met and barriers to performance are removed.
- Measures direct reports´ core job/MAG performance and contribution to team performance.
- Communicates site and department performance to staff.
- Provides direct reports with feedback on core job/MAG performance.
- Collaborates with direct reports to identify and enable their skill and knowledge development.
- Rewards and recognizes staff and team performance to build engagement.
- Ensures direct report positions are filled timely with the best qualified candidate(s).
- Manages the Certification, Calibration / Instrumentation Program through the following parameters in conjunction with Process/Equipment Engineering
- Support the establishment process requirements
- Provides consultation on design and specifications of instrumentation; serves as a critical team member to establish maintenance and calibration needs for new instruments.
- Troubleshoots failed instrumentation
- Generates root causes for instrumentation failure(s)
- Gains input for compliance-related corrective actions and reliability program recommended responses
- Obtains pre/post approve/review work performed documentation.
- Responsible for all activity / needs in relation to Change Control actions concerning instrumentation. Creates and revises instrumentation data sheets.
- Creates and revises instrumentation job plans.
- Provides ownership, updating of and compliance to Calibration Program.
- Establishes solid certification and instrumentation business processes and drives site-wide involvement in instrumentation program.
- Serves as key point person to support Project Management programs for Engineering in conjunction with Engineers and the Project Management Group.
- Develops and manages instrumentation workflow.
- Drives collaboration and enhances client interface.
- Leads networking with peers regionally and globally.
- Assists in assuring contractor/vendor final documents are correct for purchased components.
- Ensures updates of drawings and document revision history associated with any/all component changes.
- Ensure that Calibration program remains compliant with internal metrics and regulator expectations/regulations.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science Degree in related engineering field from an accredited engineering school, or the equivalent on-the-job training & experience gained by working in the engineering industry a minimum of five (5) years.
- Position requires the ability to understand and apply technical information, as well as the ability to make sound business decision regarding technical and personnel matters.
- Knowledge of regulations a must.
- Supervisory training/management courses.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to form and motivate teams comprised of inter-intra department BIAH employees, outside consultants and contractors.
- Organizational skills in planning, goal setting, prioritizing project work and coordinating with operations.
- Strong oral and written communication skills to be able to effectively interface with all levels of BIAH personnel, outside consultants, contractors when obtaining bids, coordinating construction projects for facilities and/or equipment repairs, negotiating contracts, discussing projects.
- Abreast of new developments in engineering fields that pertain to facilities, utilities, and various other operations throughout plant.
