The Manager, Maintenance Excellence will provide management and leadership in the Maintenance Excellence department. This department is responsible for the following functions: Maintenance storerooms, Reliability Engineering, Planning and Scheduling, Maintenance BPE, CMMS administration.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develops tactical plan based on current assessments that yields continuous improvement in the Maintenance storeroom.
  • Integrates storeroom processes with Planning and Scheduling processes, to ensure optimal utilization of resources.
  • Leads, mentors and develops Planning/Scheduling resources to provide the highest levels of support in the following areas: maintenance, calibration and end users.
  • Implements robust processes that ensure the most effective and efficient use of resources possible.
  • Provides leadership and strategic insight to the CMMS administration function.
  • Ensures system is compliant, reliable, transparent and serves as the cornerstone of all Maintenance and Calibration activities.
  • Provides leadership and management oversight for the Reliability Engineering function.
  • Develops improvement plan based on current assessments.
  • Ensures that preventive and predictive maintenance procedures result in positive outcomes in terms of financial, reliability and regulatory compliance.
  • Ensures that the BPE resources are focused on established priorities.
  • Provides visibility to improvement activities and leverage best practices across the organization.
  • Provides leadership and emphasize maintenance best practices across multiple sites, functions and organizations.
  • Hires, trains, recognizes, mentors and coaches direct and indirect reports.
  • Ensures all internal, environmental, safety and regulatory compliance within areas of responsibility.
  • Participates in global teams to share and implement best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Science, Engineering, or related field preferred and a minimum of 6 years engineering, reliability, maintenance, or related experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the pharmaceutical or biological industry.  In lieu of degree, a high school diploma/GED and a minimum of 10 years of engineering, reliability, maintenance, or related experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the pharmaceutical or biological industry.
  • 5 years experience in successfully developing and implementing all aspects of a MRO materials management system, utilization of an electronic inventory database system and/or CMMS purchasing/inventory management module.  
  • 3 years experience in successful budget development and management or related activity.
  • 3 years experience in a training capacity either in a coordination and instructor capacity or related experience.  
  • Five years of leading employees, leaders, projects and/or business functions. Direct supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Maintenance best practices, including but not limited to planning and scheduling, reliability centered maintenance, TPM, CMMS.
  • Familiarity with the GMP regulatory requirements of biopharmaceutical manufacturing or the food processing industry is desirable.
  • Use of predictive maintenance technologies, such as infrared (thermography), vibration analysis, oil analysis is highly preferred.
  • Purchasing experience is desirable.
  • Familiarity with other aspects of facilities engineering and maintenance such as buildings and grounds maintenance, janitorial services, transportation equipment, reliability technologies, security etc. are all preferred.  
  • Organizational skills in planning, goal setting, prioritizing project work and coordinating with operations.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills to be able to effectively interface with all levels of BIAH personnel and outside consultants/vendors.
