Sr. Principal Engineer Cloud Dev Ops

Description

We are seeking a skilled and proactive Cloud DevOps Engineer to join our Data Driven Customer Insights team and drive the automation, deployment, and management of cloud infrastructure. The ideal candidate will be an expert in AWS and DevOps practices, with a strong focus on Infrastructure as Code (IaC), continuous integration and delivery, and cloud-native technologies. 

As a Cloud DevOps Engineer, you will be part of OneCustomer product, an AI-driven initiative at Boehringer Ingelheim designed to transform how we engage with healthcare professionals and internal teams. The team builds and operates scalable digital solutions that enable real-time sharing of customer insights, leveraging Data and cutting-edge technology to empower strategic decision-making across Commercial, Medical, and Analytics functions.

This role is based in our Ridgefield, CT office with employees working at least 2-3 days on site to support the business.

Compensation Data

This position offers a base salary typically between $140,000 and $222,000.  This position may be eligible for a role specific variable or performance based bonus and or other compensation elements.  For an overview of our benefits please click here. ​

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable cloud infrastructure using AWS services. 
  • Handle IaC configuration and release management, deployment with connectors. 
  • Develop and manage CI/CD pipelines using GitOps principles. 
  • Manage containerized applications using EKS, Helm, and ArgoCD. 
  • Collaborate with development and operations teams to ensure smooth deployment and monitoring. 
  • Maintain and optimize cloud environments for performance, cost, and security. 
  • Use OpenShift Release Manager for orchestrating releases across environments. 
  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues across cloud platforms. 
  • Client Support: Perform baseline system support, administrative and maintenance duties for assigned systems. Troubleshoot application and system problems. 
  • Project/Solution Activities: Support goals by participating on product teams. Deliver on assigned tasks and action items adopting DevOps culture. 
  • Documentation: Determine documentation requirements and produce documentation as required in support of baseline and project activities 

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Computer Science, MIS or related field with a minimum of 11 years experience; or Bachelor degree in Computer Science, or MIS, or related field with minimum 9 years of experience; or a Master degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related field with minimum 7 years of experience; or relevant Business or IT experience of minimum of 11 years. Minimum of 6 years programming experience preferred.
  • Expert level of technical understanding and demonstrated knowledge for their area of responsibility. 
  • Proven expertise in AWS cloud services, strong experience with GitOps, CI/CD, and ECR. Proficient in Terraform, Helm, and ArgoCD. Hands-on experience with EKS and container orchestration. Familiarity with Openshift Release Manager and deployment automation. 
  • Solid understanding of cloud security, networking, and monitoring. 
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, ability to work in a fast-paced environment and previous experience in DevOps culture and teams.
