This role is based on-site at our Ridgefield, CT location with hybrid flexibility of 2-3 days per week on-site.

The purpose of this role is to lead and supervise Boehringer's Peer-to-Peer Speaker Bureau & HCP and/or Patient Contracting solutions including directing the overall planning, strategy, and delivery thereof. This leader establishes and maintains policies, processes and procedures that determine how speaker bureau events are planned and implemented within Boehringer, as well as how HCPs and/or Patients are contracted for US HP. The position will ensure all solutions in the areas of responsibility are measured and tracked. The leader will drive the team to turn innovation opportunities into realistic solutions.
This leader has deep knowledge of the Peer-to-Peer & HCP and/or Patient Engagement ecosystems, is able to envision and implement industry-leading strategies for live and virtual peer-to-peer experiences for all brands. The team is responsible for fostering relationships with business owners, planning for and scoping project opportunities, advising on key business opportunities and effectively managing assigned projects to ensure successful completion and deliver value. The role will function as a thought leader responsible for the continued evolution of Boehringer's peer-to-peer and HCP/patient contracting activities and ensures that they or a team member serves as the US business owner lead for any required vendors, technologies, platforms, and related system integrations.
This individual must collaborate directly with all levels of Congress & Meetings, A&I, Marketing, Sales, Medicine, Compliance, Legal, and V&A leadership both in US and global, while managing their team and owned Vendors to ensure optimal execution and adherence to required regulations.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Continuously evaluates and researches systems, processes, business needs and industry trends, and works directly with global technology leads and global business counterparts, vendors, and stakeholders to implement technical enhancements that deliver on the company’s strategic objectives and deliver value. Serves as US owner of speaker program and HCP engagement systems and platforms. Drives peer to peer adoption as codified in omnichannel strategy and executed through suggestions and next best action. Accountable for the strategic identification and implementation of technologies that drive increased satisfaction, HCP engagement, value and profitability.
- Partner with all levels of Compliance and Legal to interpret guidance from regulatory agencies and provide perspective on impacts to systems and processes in assigned area of accountability. Stay up-to-date on enforcement actions related to HCP engagements and anticipate potential actions and/or changes to systems/processes that may be required as a result. Develop clear project plans, timelines, and stakeholder communications to address changes and mitigate impact to Boehringer. Lead activities required to investigate any compliance issues associated with Speakers, Ad Boards, Consulting Agreements, and/or Speaker Bureau. Accountable for maintaining strict adherence to all regulations, State and Federal (Sunshine) reporting requirements.
- Accountable for providing required documentation for Audits and Investigations. Accountable for development of system / process / SOP changes required to address any findings and align with senior leadership on mitigation strategies.
- Identify efficiency/standardization opportunities and lead development of implementation projects. Serve as US lead for global implementation projects/rollouts in areas of accountability. Effectively lead projects by working independently or by managing one or more internal and/or external team members/vendors, building project deliverables and presenting to project sponsors and leadership. Accountable for vendor service quality, adherence to BI SOPs, SLAs, budgets, and timelines. Defines and monitors reporting on key performance indicators in areas of accountability and leads development and implementation of solutions or corrective actions.
- Provide consultative thought leadership on trends and technologies to continuously improve peer-to-peer execution and HCP/Patient experience with Boehringer. Partner with Analytics and Insights to develop actionable plans for stakeholders. Leverage industry and executional insights to advise stakeholders on HCP faculty sizing, event formats, adherence to compliance requirements. Advise and educate stakeholders on systems, platforms, compliance, and tactical delivery to drive the optimal execution of peer-to-peer strategy and best in class HCP engagement experiences. Develop and present data and insights to all levels of leadership.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree, MBA preferred
- 8-10 years experience in events (meetings, congress and/or peer-to-peer) within the pharmaceutical industry
- Expertise in pharmaceutical compliance, including T&D, ABAC, Fair Market Value, process and compliance data-capture and spend reporting.
- Experience leading projects of significant risk/scope/complexity with minimal supervision. Strong preference for experience in managing groups or projects of significant risk, scale or complexity.
- In-depth knowledge of Sales Force Promotional Speaker Programs required.
Knowledge of HCP and/or Patient Contracting solutions. - Proven experience working with marketing agencies and content providers, and experience driving enterprise-level implementations of technology.
- Ability to evaluate end-to-end experience for HCP/Patients.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including formal presentation skills.
- Strong knowledge of virtual meeting platforms required.
- Experience managing external vendors required.
- Ability to travel up to 15% of time, both domestic and international.
- Proven success delivering with cross-functional teams with high emotional intelligence.

Desired Skills, Experience and Abilities
- Lead (recruit, hire, coach, develop, motivate, manage and monitor performance) a team of direct report SB/HCP Engagement Leads that provide / develop / monitor Peer to Peer tactics to drive the Company’s strategic objectives. Conduct goal setting, performance evaluations and compensation discussions. Coordinate with stakeholders on the performance and expectations of the group. Creates and maintains a performance-based team culture with clear accountability and a sense of accountability for achieving results. Allocate job responsibilities and distribute workload among team to ensure requirements are met. Provide regular feedback, conduct timely MAG Plan reviews, identify performance challenges, create action plans, and monitor effectiveness of those action plans. Identify development areas to help identify opportunities that will help develop team members’ skills, competencies and push their growth within the team and the company.
- Ensure optimization, accuracy and compliance of HCP contracting process. Partner with contract attorneys to identify contract modifications that enhance clarity, reduce errors and risk. Work with Legal and Compliance leads to continuously improve the contracting and engagement experience for HCPs.
- Establish and lead workstreams aimed at turning information around evolving regulations, systems and processes into actionable recommendations to leadership for implementation.
Compensation Data:
This position offers a base salary typically between $170,000 and $269,000. The position may be eligible for a role specific variable or performance-based bonus and or other compensation elements.
