The Senior Associate Director, Global Medical Affairs Business Process is pivotal in leading strategic planning and execution of medical operations within Global Medical Affairs. This role involves building globally deployable frameworks and templates, ensuring alignment with organizational goals to drive efficiency, compliance, and continuous improvement. The incumbent will proactively identify opportunities for process improvement, implement best practices, and enhance service delivery. Key responsibilities for this position include stakeholder engagement and collaborating with cross-functional teams to align medical affairs strategies with other business functions, fostering a cohesive approach.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Works cross-functionally, to develop and lead the execution of critical medical affairs processes across the Boehringer-Ingelheim portfolio in alignment with organizational goals.
- Works cross-discipline to set timelines, establish delivery frameworks and ensure timely execution of Medical Affairs strategy planning, as well as other Global Medical Affairs processes (i.e. Gap Analysis, Evidence Planning).
- Identifies and implements process improvement opportunities to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.
- Leads or participates in cross-functional teams to drive operational excellence initiatives.
- Works closely with the Global Medical Affairs leadership team and finance to ensure teams are on track with their budget.
- Identifies and escalates risks and ensuring accruals and budgets are up to date each month.
- In collaboration with Head, GMA and Global Head, MAEx, develops and leads critical initiatives to execute on the overall GMA and GMAEx mission.
Requirements
- Minimum of Bachelor's degree required; Advanced science/clinical degree (PharmD, M.D., DNP, DO, Ph.D., Master’s), preferred.
- Seven (7) years professional experience in a scientific, clinical, and/or medical space, including: three-plus (3+) years of prior Medical Affairs, MSL or related pharmaceutical industry experience.
- Leadership and Collaboration: Strong leadership skills to guide cross-functional teams and promote global alignment.
- Process Improvement and Project Management: Expertise in optimizing business processes and managing large-scale projects with multiple stakeholders.
- Communication and Adaptability: Exceptional ability to communicate effectively across broad teams and adapt to evolving priorities.
- Medical Affairs and Stakeholder Management: Knowledge in medical affairs operations and engaging with senior leadership to align various stakeholders.
- Innovation and Problem-Solving: Proactive mindset to challenge the status quo, drive process improvement, and navigate challenges effectively.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
- Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required).
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
Compensation
This position offers a base salary typically between $170,000 and $269,000. The position may be eligible for a role specific variable or performance-based bonus and or other compensation elements. For an overview of our benefits please click here.
