Compensation Data

This position offers a base salary typically between $170,000 and $269,000.  The position may be eligible for a role specific variable or performance based bonus and or other compensation elements.  For an overview of our benefits please click here. ​

This role is based on-site at our Ridgefield, CT location with hybrid flexibility of 2-3 days per week on-site. 


The Senior Associate Director, Healthcare Affairs and Channel Strategy is a key member within the Value & Access Organization. This associate has an important role to provide a holistic channel perspective, as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to identify industry events and trends that may impact the organization. Another key responsibility is to lead pull-through efforts regarding the HCA MegaTrends and how they are incorporated into the ICP process (annual tactical planning process).

The SR AD, Healthcare Affairs and Channel Strategy will create an annual channel assessment and plan to incorporate into the annual planning process. Also, on a regular and ad-hoc as needed basis the incumbent will complete a market scan within the channel, then frame the situation and assess the potential impact on Boehringer. As relevant, the position holder will identify possible mitigation strategies to be shared with the appropriate V&A colleagues. The incumbent will bring their expertise from a Channel Strategy perspective: Understands the interworking of the channel, and how the customer acts and thinks about the channel.

The SR AD, Healthcare Affairs and Channel Strategy provides the voice of the market and the customer, identifies strategic opportunities in each channel. Identifies commercial implications due to changes in the channel. This role will collaborate with key Value and Access teams to pull through Channel Strategies and prepare customer facing teams for interactions with their customers.

Duties & Responsibilities

Strategic Thinking and Planning:

  • Strong capabilities to develop of a Channel Strategy plan and a stakeholder engagement plan.
  • Impact and results oriented; provides input on impact/leads impact assessments, and concepts for mitigation strategies.
  • Ability to distill market and customer trends to incorporate into annual planning and on-going strategic work.


Subject Matter Expertise:

  • Understands the market access and healthcare landscape trends; monitor changes in the landscape.
  • Expectations are to be the Subject Matter Expect in the Channel, creating and helping internal partners to develop meaningful strategies to impact the commercial business. 


Teamwork and Collaboration:

  • Works closely with PGA, VAIS and Payor Sales to align on insights and trends to focus on 
  • Partners with key internal stakeholders through frequent engagement to decipher changes in Policy and Channel that may impact the organization. 
  • Co-leads work on internal impact assessments and external RFIs (e.g., PDAB RFIs)
  • Works closely with the VAIS teams to pull-through HCA MegaTrends in the ICP tactical planning process.


Project Management and Execution:

  • Develops clear and actionable slides and emails that provide an overview, storyline, impact and potential next steps.
  • Demonstrates an in-depth knowledge of both strategy and details on projects.
  • Develops a workload plan that describes project, efforts, objectives, time allocation and KPIs (why the project should be focused on).
  • Provides prompt and concise leadership updates and assessments.


Communication and Business Acumen:

  • Expectations are that the associate creates and gains alignment on strategy and ensures proper communication with key stakeholders along the way.
  • Provides positive and engaging leadership without authority with internal Boehringer cross-functional home office colleagues and key external stakeholders (e.g., industry experts, customers, partners, etc.)

Requirements

  • Minimum degree from an accredited four-year school (college/university) required; MBA preferred.
  • Seven-plus (7+) years’ experience in pharmaceutical industry.
  • Three-plus (3+) years of Market Access or Commercial experience highly preferred.
  • Three-plus (3+) years of Strategy Development and/or Market Access consulting experience is highly preferred.

  • Subject Matter Expertise in Value & Access, understanding the healthcare landscape and channels they are focused on.

  • Self-starting attitude and can look for opportunities beyond assigned work.
  • Solid business acumen and ability to communicate effectively with Senior Leadership, which includes ability to build presentations and tell the story in a concise manner.

  • Demonstrated ability to influence and be considered an expert internally.
  • Demonstrates strong organizational aptitude and strong business acumen, as this role interacts with leadership.
  • Works at a fast pace and can prioritize / handle multiple priority projects simultaneously.
  • Successful track record of performance.
  • Ability to travel domestically (may include overnight travel).


Technical Skills:

  • Advanced/Master Level skill in PowerPoint.
  • Advanced skill in Excel.


Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
  • Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required).
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
