Boehringer Ingelheim is currently seeking a talented Senior Scientist to join our New Therapeutic Modality (NTM) team located at our Ridgefield, CT facility. The Senior Scientist will interface with key stakeholders and R&D project teams, lead and perform independent research that supports NTM projects with a focus on peptide therapeutics. The candidate will explore and implement novel technologies and new experimental designs to achieve overall R&D project goals.

Duties & Responsibilities
• Contribute to defining R&D project goals, independently design and lead studies with minimal resources to achieve the goals with high scientific standard.
• Represent the team and collaborate effectively with key stakeholders within and outside functional area and strengthen the drug substance (DS)/drug product (DP) interface for NTM projects.
• Build new stakeholder interface, identify and pursue strategic scientific opportunities, lead studies and contribute to the DS/DP process development including the identification and optimization of key process parameters.
• Explore and develop new technologies and advanced characterization methods.
• Prepare clear technical reports, publications and oral presentations. Effectively communicate own and/or team´s work and deliver project updates to senior level management clearly in oral and written forms in the context of project goals.
• Keep abreast of relevant literature and maintain a high level of expertise in own field. Develop and maintain visibility through presentations and publications. Take the lead in publications and patents when needed.
• Understand current national and international regulations and legal requirements as well as relevant BI policies and procedures; Apply knowledge to ensure safe and compliant practices, manage risk, and maximize opportunities for projects to succeed.
• Contributes to departmental administration; demonstrates fiscal responsibility with respect to cost of experiments, technology, external collaborations, and travel.
Requirements
• Ph.D. Degree or equivalent work experience in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Pharmaceutical Science or other relevant areas.
• Demonstrate a broad knowledge of DS & DP development applicable for NTMs.
• Appropriate level of understanding of applicable regulations.
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing in an interdisciplinary environment.
• May require an ability to push, pull, lift and carry objects up to 50lbs.
• May require ability to wear a Respirator.
Desired Skills, Experiences and Abilities:
• 1-3 years project management/leadership experience preferred.
• Self-motivated with strong learning abilities.
Eligibility Requirements:
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
• Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required)
• Must be 18 years of age or older
Compensation Data
This position offers a base salary typically between $140,000.00 and $222,000.00 USD. The position may be eligible for a role specific variable or performance based bonus and or other compensation elements. For an overview of our benefits please click here.
