The Senior Data Scientist will execute data science projects across the company with the purpose of solving non-routine business problems by applying advanced methods including artificial intelligence, machine learning, causal inference, advanced statistics, natural language processing and other related techniques.  The role will include the responsibility for designing and building computational models, discovering insights and identifying opportunities through the use of statistical and algorithmic methods (for instance machine learning or GenAI) as well as data visualization techniques.  The ideal candidate will provide technical leadership for LLM related topics, including prompt engineering and compliance rules.  The Senior Data Scientist will utilize his/her experience to manage small and medium-sized projects, potentially including external support and to develop and mentor more junior colleagues.

Compensation Data

This position offers a base salary typically between $140,000 and $222,000. This position may be eligible for a role specific variable or performance based bonus and or other compensation elements.  For an overview of our benefits please click here. ​

Duties & Responsibilities

Delivering successful data science projects to solve business problems:

  • Understand business problems and design Data Science solutions to solve complex business problems
  • Identify, implement, and evaluate the most appropriate algorithm (machine learning / GenAI) for the specific challenge
  • Collaborate across the business to understand data, IT, and business constraints
  • Collaborate with developers to implement and deploy scalable solutions
  • Establish best data operational practices and maintain all compliance requirements
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in AI and machine learning, and apply cutting-edge techniques to improve model performance and scalability

Establishing close collaborations with business:

  • Guide the organization about the business potential and strategy of artificial intelligence (AI)/data science
  • Actively network on a regular basis with domain experts to better understand the business mechanics that generated the data
  • Quickly develop extensive domain knowledge in various topics relevant for the pharma industry

Successful management of communities and partnerships:

  • Actively network on a regular basis with internal and external partners
  • Promote collaboration and knowledge exchange with other data science teams within and outside the organization
  • Provide thought leadership by researching best practices, conducting experiments, and collaborating with industry leaders

Independently lead data science solution development and deployment. Deliver projects across functions with internal or external parties through high level of data science expertise.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Computer Science, MIS or related field with a minimum of 11 years experience; or Bachelor degree in Computer Science, or MIS, or related field with minimum 9 years of experience; or a Master degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related field with minimum 7 years of experience; or relevant Business or IT experience of minimum of 11 years.
  • Highly preferred:  BSc, MSc, or PhD degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning, or a related field such as natural sciences (Physics, Mathematics, Bioinformatics).
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in data science, with expertise in GenAI, especially large language models (LLM).
  • Strong proficiency in programming languages for data science like Python, and ML libraries/frameworks such as Scikit-learn, TensorFlow or PyTorch.
  • Expertise in software development practices, including version control (Git), CI/CD, and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and statistical methods.
  • GenAI Expertise: Demonstrated experience in developing and deploying generative models (e.g., especially using LLMs, and agentic AI, but ideally also other types such as GANs, VAEs, or Diffusion Models).
  • Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work with complex datasets.
  • Communication - Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required)
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
