Network Engineer
Description
If you are passionate about networks, this position ensures that global products and processes from IT INF Network and INF4OT organization (NIO) are correctly understood and followed at both the local RDG and Regional levels over the Global team. The objective is to organize and maintain strong NIO representation and operation, aligning with global standards to support efficient and effective operations. This role involves organizing local and regional demands, as a member from the Campus Access Network team, ensuring they are communicated back to the respective NIO product teams for continuous optimization and improvement.

This role is on site 2-3 days per week and based in our Ridgefield, CT office.
Compensation Data
This position offers a base salary typically between $75,000 and $122,000. This position may be eligible for a role specific variable or performance based bonus and or other compensation elements. For an overview of our benefits please click here.
Duties & Responsibilities
-Project/Solution Activities: Support goals by participating on or leading project teams. Deliver on assigned tasks and action items from the Campus Access team.
-Consulting and Analysis: Meet regularly with IT colleagues and stakeholders to seek new opportunities to make their processes more efficient, effective, and/or secure. Make recommendations to utilize and implement improvements to IT systems to meet needs. Determine/gather requirements to present possible solutions or improvements.
-Business Support: Perform or advise IT colleagues on administrative and maintenance tasks for assigned applications/systems. Troubleshoot application and system problems that have been escalated, evaluate scope of impact, and develop remediation plan.
-Documentation: Determine documentation requirements and produce documentation as required in support of baseline and project activities.
-Local Representation of Global Services: Ensure global NIO products and processes are correctly understood and followed in the local operational unit.
-Local Business Demands Coordination: Work closely with local contacts to understand and guide local business demands, ensuring global product offerings are properly utilized.
-Network Maintenance and Audit Readiness: Organize network maintenance windows and ensure local audit readiness, including maintaining network topology and inventory.
-Stakeholder Management: Cultivate strong relationships with local stakeholders, including IT heads, project managers, and local sourcing teams.
-Community Participation and Feedback: Join the NCON community meetings regularly and provide feedback to global product teams to improve offerings.
-Equipment Management: Ensure proper receipt, storage, and inventory management of network equipment.
Requirements
- Associate degree in Computer Science or MIS with a minimum of 4 years experience; or Bachelor degree in Computer Science, or MIS, or related field with a minimum of 2 years of experience; or a Master degree in Computer Science, MIS, with minimum 1 year of experience; or relevant Business or IT experience of minimum of 4 years.
- Working knowledge of and experience with life cycle methodology required.
- Demonstrated experience in effectively coordinating network implementations and rollouts in a local/regional environment.
- Understanding of WAN, LAN & WLAN the following technologies are a plus: Data center and special networks, Load balancing, network security technologies, Internet Services and remote access, Identity and Access Management and Messaging email gateways.
- Ability to solve & understand network and security issues and to implement service requests.
- Ability to anticipate user requirements and identify and resolve complex problems with minimal supervision, strong customer service and communications skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the following technologies are mandatory, including from among the following:
-Network monitoring and traffic analysis tools
-LAN Understanding – such a Layer2 technologies (VTP, STP, VLAN, LACP/PAGP)
-Firewalls and network security basics
- Strong analytical skills and methodical troubleshooting; strong follow-up and organizational skills. Ability to assess internal and external communication practices, anticipate future network requirements.
- Topology creation and development.
Eligibility Requirements
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required).
Must be 18 years of age or older.
Desired Skills, Experience and Abilities
- Knowledge of and experience with project management is a plus
- Experience providing second level network support as part of a global service delivery team is a plus.
