Boehringer Ingelheim is currently seeking a talented and innovative Intern to join our Chemical Development department located at our facility in Ridgefield, Connecticut, United States. As an Intern, you will focus on electrochemistry research for applications in small molecule process development. Perform experiments to systematically study the performance of a batch and flow reactors using process analytic technologies and automation software. Based on literature and experimental results, draw conclusion on flow and batch reactor characterization, such as residence time distribution, mass transfer and Faraday efficiency, etc. Summarize and present the scientific research.

Duties & Responsibilities

•    Perform scientific experiments in electrochemistry with a predefined goal
•    Complete tasks in a safe and compliant manner
•    Perform literature search as necessary
•    Maintain proper records of experiments in a notebook
•    Present research results in both oral and written formats

  

Requirements

  • Must be a current undergraduate, graduate or advanced degree student in good academic standing.
  • Student must be enrolled at an accredited college or university for the duration of the internship.
  • Overall cumulative minimum GPA from last completed quarter/semester 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) preferred.
  • Major or minor in related field of internship.
  • Undergraduate students must have completed at least 12 credit hours at current college or university.
  • Graduate and advanced degree students must have completed at least 9 credit hours at current college or university.


Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
  • Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required).
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

Desired Skills, Experience and Abilities

•    A graduate student who is in the 3rd year or above in electro-organic synthetic methodology, flow chemistry, chemical engineering, or electrical engineering is preferred
•    An undergraduate student who has completed at least 3 years of studies in chemistry, chemical engineering or electrical engineering is preferred
•    In-depth understanding of electroanalytical methods
•    Data analysis using modern tools.
•    Complete tasks in a safe and compliant manner
•    Perform literature search as necessary
•    Good oral and written communications
