Director, Corporate Social Responsibility & BI Cares

Description

The Director of the Boehringer Cares Foundation and Corporate Social Responsibility is responsible for setting the vision, developing the overarching strategy, and overseeing the implementation of programs of the Foundation that generate meaningful impact improving the lives of people and animals in communities across the United States, especially those where the company has locations. The Director is also responsible for impact initiatives, employee and stakeholder engagement and community involvement through the programs of Boehringer’s Corporate Social Responsibility team.

This position offers a base salary typically between $170,000 and $269,000. The position may be eligible for a role specific variable or performance based bonus, relocation and or other compensation elements.

Duties & Responsibilities

This role will:

  • Lead and drive the development and implementation of strategic programs that deliver the greatest degree of impact though the most effective use of resources at the national and local levels. 
  • Lead U. S. wide Corporate Social Responsibility strategies and programs that engage employees across our businesses in strengthening the communities where they live and work
  • Provide rich development opportunities and help strengthen the company’s culture.
  • Lead U. S. wide charitable & philanthropic donations strategy and operations and is responsible for the operation of the Boehringer Cares Patient Assistance Program which provides medicines free of charge to low-income patients.
  • Work in close collaboration with senior leaders across the company and with external partners to identify trends at the intersection of healthcare, strategic philanthropy and community resilience in order to make a positive impact on the health of people and animals.
  • Be a member of the U.S. Corporate Affairs leadership team and an important contributor to the company’s global initiative of Sustainable Development for Generations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor´s degree plus 15+ years´ experience preferred in the nonprofit sector, philanthropy, corporate and/or foundation experience; pharmaceutical/healthcare experience preferred.; OR Master´s degree plus 10+ years´ experience preferred in the nonprofit sector, philanthropy, corporate and/or foundation experience.
  • Strategic and creative thinker with a demonstrated track record of creating high-impact social change programs.
  • Strong understanding of Sustainability, Corporate Social Responsibility, Corporate Reputation, Corporate Foundations, Corporate Giving, and the philanthropic community at large.
  • Strong ability to co-create and collaborate with colleagues across multiple divisions of the company.
  • Ability to build support among senior leaders for program strategy and funding recommendations.
  • Ability to positively represent the Company and the Foundation at community events and build strong external relationships to support Company and Foundation programs.
  • Well versed in the US and global healthcare landscape.
  • Excellent team management skills to inspire and motivate high-performing team while also leading by influence with colleagues across the company.
  • Ability to work well under pressure/fast paced environment and adjust strategies quickly.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple competing projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to oversee, build and manage budgets and resources.
  • Strong communications and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated analytical and quantitative skills including ability to use internal and external data and metrics to set strategies, develop business cases and inform and influence decision-making.
