Boehringer Ingelheim is currently seeking a talented and innovative Intern to join our Chemical Development department located at our Ridgefield, CT facility. As an Intern, you will work on development of novel reaction methodology in synthetic organic chemistry. The methodology will address a synthetic challenge with an innovative and efficient direct process.
Duties & Responsibilities
• The intern will perform organic chemical reactions in a laboratory and will use basic laboratory techniques.
• The intern will explore the literature using search engines such as Sci-Finder or Reaxys.
• The intern must comply with all safety rules and guidelines.
• The intern will present the results of their research to the Chemical Development department at the conclusion of the internship.
Requirements
- Must be a graduate or advanced degree student in good academic standing.
- Student must be enrolled at an accredited college or university for the duration of the internship.
- Overall cumulative minimum GPA from last completed quarter/semester 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) preferred.
- Major or minor in related field of internship, preferably in Organic Chemistry.
- Graduate and advanced degree students must have completed at least 9 credit hours at current college or university.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
- Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required).
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
Desired Skills, Experience and Abilities
• Experience setting up organic chemical reactions and interpreting results.
• Experience with NMR spectroscopy and tabulation of NMR data.
• Experience with purification by flash chromatography.
• Excellent communication skills (both oral and written).
