Boehringer Ingelheim is currently seeking a talented and innovative Intern to join our Chemical Development department located at our Ridgefield, CT facility. As an Intern, you will work in an organic synthesis laboratory and gain hands-on experience in process chemistry. Research for the intern will focus on developing the process of a catalytic reaction and its optimization of reaction conditions. You will have the opportunity to gain a broad perspective on process development in a pharmaceutical industry setting.

Duties & Responsibilities

•    Learn industry lab and spectroscopic techniques
•    Perform scientific experiments in organic chemistry and catalysis with a predefined goal
•    Complete tasks in a safe and compliant manner
•    Perform literature search as necessary
•    Maintain proper records of experiments in a notebook
•    Present research results in both oral and written formats

Requirements

  • Must be a current graduate or advanced degree student in good academic standing.
  • Student must be enrolled at an accredited college or university for the duration of the internship.
  • Overall cumulative minimum GPA from last completed quarter/semester 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) preferred.
  • Major or minor in related field of internship.
  • Graduate and advanced degree students must have completed at least 9 credit hours at current college or university.


Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
  • Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required).
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

Compensation Data

This position offers an hourly rate of $20.00 - $33.00 USD / hour commensurate to the level of degree program in which an applicant is actively enrolled. For an overview of our benefits please click here.

Desired Skills, Experience and Abilities

•    A graduate student who has completed at least 2 years of studies in organic chemistry (3rd year graduate student or later)
•    Hands-on research experience in organic chemistry or organometallic chemistry
•    Ability to think critically about experimental results and use that information to conduct further experiments
•    Significant interest in learning about process chemistry
•    Ability to work independently and as part of a team
