BDS Principal Operations Manager
Description
Project management leader driving operational excellence, value creation and consistent & harmonized capabilities for Biostatistics & Data Sciences (BDS). Leads complex, cross-functional initiatives using project management framework and tools.
Areas of focus include Quality in Action, Capability & Process Portfolio Management, Learning & Development, Communications, Capacity & Supplier Management, Logistics and Operational Insights.
Cultivates operational excellence for BDS Value Creation by having advanced expertise in 3+ areas of focus and is able to:
i.) consult and develop creative solutions for medium to large size complexity topics through analysis of trend data, development of business insights and practical recommendations for action,
ii) create framework for large complexity topics to empower all BDS members in their operational topics,
iii) Dand develop and oversee execution of projects with focus on speed and value in clinical development life-cycle.

Duties & Responsibilities
Foster empowerment of teams on complex topics:
- Based on operational insights, determining need(s) for frameworks which support BDS in speed and value and allow all BDS members to execute topics efficiently
- Creating such frameworks, and by developing appropriate processes, instructions and tools and coordinating BI service partners and preferred suppliers accordingly
- Provide adequate communication and self-training content, including overseeing teams
Create customer focused service packages for complex topics:
- Based on operational insights, determining need(s) for service packages which support BDS in speed and value
- Creating such service packages including developing appropriate processes, preparing internal and external resources to execute such work packages, including overseeing teams
Implement and oversee focused service packages for complex topics:
- Establishing service teams
- Providing leadership and guidance to established service teams
- Ensuring adequate communication into BDS and easy access to services for BDS members
- Continually improving service packages through evaluation of effectiveness of services based on trend data and taking appropriate action based on insights, including overseeing teams
Provide customer-focused service:
- Providing clear scope and intent of defined service packages and associated service teams
- Monitoring and holding back-briefings to ensure service packages are delivered according to intent and defined processes
- Listening and responding to customer feedback regarding execution of service
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree (e.g. MBA, MSc); Major in Life Sciences, Business Administration or similar preferred.
- In-depth knowledge and experience with business operations, including quality systems, learning and development processes, communications, supplier management and or logistics.
- Demonstrated proficiency in using project management tools and software is essential. Familiarity with tools (e.g: Asana, Trello, Jira, Smartsheet, etc.)
- Excellent organizational skills, problem solving abilities, negotiation skills, time management skills and initiative required.
- Strong communication skills: Confident and persuasive communicator to ensure that the message is clear and well understood.
- Ability to work collaboratively on multi-disciplinary project teams and proactively manage relationships with external vendors required.
- Mindful of local, global, internal and external cultures to ensure that messages are received positively and effectively.
- Ability to lead and facilitate meetings required.
- Thorough knowledge/experience in clinical trial research, medical terminology and business/systems is a plus.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction
- Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required)
- Must be 18 years of age or older
Compensation
This position offers a base salary typically between $140,000 and $222,000. The position may be eligible for a role specific variable or performance based bonus and or other compensation elements. For an overview of our benefits please click here
