AD/Sr. AD, Data Governance

Description

This role is based on-site at our Ridgefield, CT location with hybrid flexibility of 2-3 days per week on-site. 

Supply data consulting services to Human Pharma (HP)  by researching alternative data sources and recommending best practices for cross functional data usage in analytical and reporting disciplines.  Define and coordinate HP’s third party data strategy road map to support product launches, competitive analyses and pipeline investigations. Also, lead cross functional project teams in a matrix style reporting environment.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Supply data consulting services to Human Pharma (HP) analytical and reporting functions.  Recommend best practices for data usage and drive HP’s integrated data strategy to maximize analytical and reporting strategic value. 
  • Lead cross functional matrix based project teams in data purchases, developing data standards and measuring and profiling data completeness and/or accuracy. 
  • Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of Boehringer’s selling, marketing, data usage and analytical processes.  
  • Partners with Directors of HP’s Market Research, Sales Operations, and Managed Markets areas to determine analytical strategies and provides third party data solutions and options to maximize analytical effectiveness. 
  • Ability to lead peers in a project setting and influence upward to gain acceptance and alignment when required during projects.
  • Responsible for actively participating in purchasing and contracting of third party data sources within HP to maximize overall PM data effectiveness and efficiency.   
  • Participate in budgeting and purchasing decisions for HP's third party data sources ($18M annually) and acts as primary vendor contact. 
  • Manage third party data across HP functional units.
  • Assess the business value of purchasing data for minimizing costs and maximizing value.
  • Partners with Boehringer's sourcing and legal departments to contract and protect Boehringer’s data interests and ensure adherence to performance SLA’s.  
  • Develop the data purchasing strategy for new product launches by understanding the product’s competitive market landscape to support strategic decision making.
  • Pro-actively search the industry for alternative third party data sources to meet competitive challenges and improve internal HP decision making.  
  • Act as liaison between HP and data vendors regarding data accuracy, timing, delivery, performance and / or contract issues. 
  • Identifies emerging pharmaceutical industry data sources, evaluates its effectiveness in business practices the recommends its use across HP.
  • Ensures best practices of third party data usage.
  • Accountable for assisting in negotiating third party data vendor pricing in support of sales analytics, managed markets, market research and other various analytical departments.

Requirements

AD, Data Governance requirements:

  • Candidate must have 7 years of related pharmaceutical industry experience with 5 years of secondary data experience in sales operations, sales/marketing analytics, market research, managed markets or business Analysis.  
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading cross functional project teams and influencing upward.
  • Ability to manage a large vendor and hold them accountable for data accuracy and meeting deliverable. 
  • Prior budgeting experience helpful.  

Sr. AD, Data Governance requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s degree preferred
  • Master's degree and a minimum 7+ years of experience in pharmaceutical industry or Bachelors Degree and a minimum 9+ years of experience in pharmaceutical industry. Candidate must have 7+ years of related pharmaceutical industry experience with 5 years of secondary data experience in sales operations, sales/marketing analytics, market research,specialty pharmacy, managed markets or business Analysis.  
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading teams and influencing upward.
  • Ability to manage multiple large vendors and hold them accountable for data accuracy and meeting deliverable. 
  • Prior data governance experience strongly preferred.
  • Prior budgeting experience helpful. 

 

Desired Skills, Experience and Abilities

  • Working knowledge of third party sub-national data sets used to support sales and marketing. Previous work experience in targeting, call planning, sales and/or marketing analytics is preferred.Proven experience in Pharmaceutical Commercial Data Strategy development and execution
  • Hand-on experience working with Specialty Pharma data
  • Proficiency in Data Tokenization
  • Experience in 3rd Party Data Procurement (IQVIA, Veeva, Symphony, et. al. )
  • Experience in Long and Short-term Budget Management for Data and Related Services

Compensation Data:

This position offers a base salary typically between $140,000 and $222,000.  The position may be eligible for a role specific variable or performance-based bonus and or other compensation elements.
