Compensation Data

The base salary range for this position is $140,000 to $222,000.   The position may be eligible for a role specific discretionary bonus, relocation, and/or other compensation elements.  We continuously review market data and may adjust salary ranges as needed in the future.  Actual compensation will be based on job-related factors such as skills, experience, and qualifications, and other factors permitted by law. The Associate Director (AD), Health Informatics is a field-based role that works with the Account Management Team. The position holder would work across the portfolio with key customers to ensure that all customer facing resources can be integrated into an EHR platform to support patient care. This role is the key orchestrator (leader) on the Account Team for customer focused population health initiatives directed at optimizing EHR capabilities. 

This position will serve to facilitate health information technology systems and processes relating to the Electronic Health Record (EHR). This role facilitates the utilization of health information technology tools within a healthcare organization and provides an understanding on executing EHR capabilities to manage chronic populations. This includes but is not limited to patient care workflow, system architectures and organizing structures.

Internally, this role will serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) and utilize knowledge and skills to aid Boehringer in navigating EHR systems to achieve business goals and objectives. This role will address, identify, and create solutions for strategic process planning, internal change management, workflow, and process redesign. The incumbent will lead specific projects and programs to advance productivity by improving the effectiveness of customer interactions and evolving customer models as well as assisting in the successful application of multi-channel/digital promotion channels. The Health Informatics colleague will be specifically charged with helping to build organizational capabilities that drive adaption of the commercial model in response to the role of EHRs in the US healthcare landscape.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Capitalizes on the digital assets already contained within the EHR for an OCG (IDN, ACO, Medical Group).
  • Conducts workflow assessments of the customer's utilization of EHR systems to help harness functionality to improve diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients within designated therapeutic areas.
  • Leads Projects to ensure as many barriers as possible are removed so digital assets and resources can be used for population health management.
  • Focus will be on the digital asset and processes between Boehringer and the customer (i.e., Patient Support Programs) to simplify this would include processes between payor and provider as well as aspects related to telehealth and home monitoring.
  • Identifies implications, threats, and opportunities because of the rapid adoption of EHRs by our customers.
  • Educates internal stakeholders about customers' digital needs and processes.
  • Identifies ways to preserve integrity of our brands' benefit and formulary tiering by addressing inaccuracies in formulary information when transmitted electronically to the EHR.
  • Works with the large provider(s) associated with the IDN (affiliates/employed) to turn on the drop-down menus for mutually agreed to therapeutic options.
  • Develops recommendations and lead projects for MMM teams and their agencies/vendors for content/IT on ways to improve efficiency and effectiveness of existing and new population health management tools.
  • Leads specific projects and programs to advance productivity across healthcare providers by improving the effectiveness of customer interactions, evolving customer models, and developing and scaling promotional tools.
  • Partners with healthcare provider organizations on various projects and activities.


Integrates custom digital assets needed to support population health collaboration projects between Boehringer and the OCG (IDN, ACO, Medical Group) by completing the following:

  • Helping to integrate the appropriate digital educational materials into the EHR systems at the OCG (IDN, ACO, Medical Group)
  • Educating customers through a step–by–step on how to implement EHR templates for mutual therapeutic areas of interest. 
  • Helping incorporate a digital population screener into EHR systems.  
  • Helping incorporate other screening and diagnosis tools for mutual areas of interest.  
  • Simplifying tools for integration into EHR systems – transfer paper assets i.e., patient support programs, co-pay cards, digital marketing tools.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution required; Masters in Health Informatics (MHI) or Health Policy & Management preferred (MPH).
  • Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) a plus.
  • Minimum of six (6) years’ experience in healthcare, business, or pharmaceutical industry.
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience working with EHRs.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience working in a healthcare environment (i.e., acute care; ambulatory practices; physician offices, etc.).
  • Ability to connect BI business priorities, at tangible level, to broader trends in Health Information Technology.
  • Advanced business to business communication skills.
  • Advanced presentation and project management skills.
  • Teamwork and collaboration.
  • Knowledge of multiple EHR systems (Epic, Cerner, etc.) with proficiency in all elements of front-end utilization.  Certifications a plus.
  • Possess understanding of workflows, clinical processes, clinical decision support and care coordination.
  • In-depth understanding of broad market trends in utilizing the EHR and Health IT structures to manage chronic populations, as well as the dynamics of payers, large, organized customers (MG/IDS) and patients.
  • High level of energy and passion.
  • Ability to travel 50%.
