Capex Manager (2-year Fixed Term Contract)

THE POSITION

Are you a strategic thinker with a passion for delivering impactful capital projects? We’re looking for a Capex Manager to lead and coordinate a diverse portfolio of capital expenditure (Capex) projects at our Pirbright manufacturing site. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping our site’s investment strategy and driving operational excellence.

As Capex Manager, you’ll be the central point of coordination for all Capex projects—big and small—ensuring seamless collaboration between project engineering and supporting functions. You’ll oversee the full project lifecycle, from planning to execution, while maintaining alignment with corporate protocols and governance standards.

This is hybrid role based in our Pirbright manufacturing site on a 2-year fixed term contract.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

You’ll be responsible for the management and successful delivery of the Capex portfolio, including:
•    Keeping the portfolio/master plan current, including cost tracking and project timelines
•    Ensuring alignment with key stakeholders across LCC, Procurement, Finance, Legal, and more
•    Monitoring changes across the portfolio and communicating updates to the SLT and steering functions
•    Ensuring all projects comply with corporate Capex guidance
•    Establishing effective governance and control frameworks to monitor progress and secure stakeholder support
•    Providing tools, templates, and best practices for project and programme governance
•    Leading projects from inception to completion, coordinating cross-functional teams, consultants, contractors, and vendors
•    Maintaining robust financial control of capital projects
•    Managing and updating the site engineering system

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We’re seeking a proactive and experienced leader with:
•    A proven track record of delivering multiple projects over £1 million in highly regulated environments
•    Experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing or bioprocessing
•    A degree in an engineering discipline (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, or Process)
•    IOSH or NEBOSH certification
•    Strong communication and collaboration skills to engage stakeholders across all levels
•    Excellent planning and cost control capabilities
•    A results-driven mindset with the ability to lead teams, self-prioritise, and stay motivated
•    Flexibility, adaptability, and a willingness to listen and learn
