Regional Sales Manager, SSA East

The Opportunity:

 

Lead sales and achieve business objectives in Sub-Saharan Africa covering 15 countries (WAC, EAC, and South African neighbouring markets) for key accounts and other customers through successful implementation of sales, marketing and market access strategies across all specie (Poultry, Pets, Ruminants, Swine, Equine, VPH). Execute strategy action plans through distribution channels and partnerships, while in compliance with the Boehringer Ingelheim global policy. The role will be based in Nairobi, Kenya.

 

Responsibilities:

 

Sales Planning 

  • Works closely with the Head of Animal Health in developing and maintaining country‑specific business plans with the objective of maximizing BI business regionally and in individual countries to ensure achievement of the Net sales targets and objectives through the local distributors.
  •  Uses information gathered from distributors and market data to provide accurate forecast
  • Liaises with distributors in securing consistent and sustainable growth in sales and revenue by identifying and developing new market opportunities.
  • Adheres to the operating budget by maintaining an updated expense account on sales, marketing and market access activities
  • Ensure readiness for new product launches as well as execute and manage launch plans

Sales management

• Ensures achievement of sales and revenue targets, through effective distributor management, strategy alignment, monthly reviews, sales and activity tracking for performance
• Develops and builds value-based engagement with customers

• Monitors the supply and access to BI products and takes actions accordingly

Marketing

  • Liaises with Sales and Marketing Leads in executing a marketing plan for SSA
  • Cross functionally contributes in country specific management of business activities that ensures both high quality and maximum customer engagement.

Stakeholder Management

• Builds and manages relations with the distributors and Key accounts to ensure high level of partnership in supply of BI products, supporting distribution, promoting and access of BI products whilst   adhering to best practice principles and BI’s standard operational procedures (SOPs).
• Coordinates with distributors to ensure stock availability working cross functionally with internal teams.
• Coordinates with distributors in building and maintaining positive and professional relationships with different customers in SSA

Requirements:

  • Must hold a Veterinary Degree or Specialist Degree (Microbiology-Virology) or similar
  • A minimum of 7-10 years’ relevant work experience in a sales lead role within the animal health industry.
  • At least 5 years’ solid sales and marketing experience with a proven track record of achieving targets and execution of strategy.
  • Regional work experience in Africa Sub-Sahara will be advantageous.
  • Previous working experience with cross functional team
  • Flexible for frequent travel with valid travel & driving documents
  • Knowledge of the Animal Health Industry economics and drivers preferred
  • Ability to work and thrive in a matrix team environment
