Team Lead, HR Direct and EC - Japan

The Position

As the Head of Employee Central and HR Direct Japan, you will be responsible for leading and continuously enhancing Employee Central and HR Direct services delivered from GBSC Manila. 

Working closely with the Employee Central and HR Direct Regional Team, HR Business Partners, and Process Managers, you will support employees based in Japan. In this role, you’ll oversee the delivery of efficient, compliant Employee Central and HR Direct processes and initiatives. You’ll lead and develop a diverse team, ensuring high-quality service delivery. Collaboration will be key, as you’ll partner with fellow HR Services leaders both regionally and globally.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • You will lead the Employee Central and HR Direct team in alignment with our global HR service delivery framework, while also supporting all countries within the defined scope.
  • You will champion operational excellence within the Employee Central and HR Direct teams by overseeing the seamless execution of end-to-end processes, while continuously identifying and driving opportunities for improvement:
    • You will be responsible for advising on and managing the preparation of various types of employment-related documents—such as contracts for new hires (local and international), transfers, contract extensions, part-time work—while ensuring compliance with country-specific regulations and applicable company agreements.
    • You will be responsible for the orchestration of all relevant HR-specific Onboarding and Offboarding activities, ensuring a seamless employee experience .
    • You will provide guidance and lead the implementation of reorganizational initiatives, including but not limited to teams, business units and legal entity/corporation.
    • You will collaborate with the HR Direct team to drive data analytics and generate actionable insights from data, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and encouraging the adoption of emerging technologies.
  • You will be leading a diverse, motivated and highly professional team. You should focus on people management, supporting the growth, development, and capability-building of each team member.
  • You will collaborate closely with the HR Director and HR Business Partners to ensure that operational processes are optimized and aligned with the specific needs of each region or country, in line with the Regional Service Center strategy. Your team will also be responsible for delivering accurate and timely reports and data to HR Business Partners and Centers of Expertise as needed.
  • You will be responsible for complaint processing and escalation where necessary.

About our Future Employee

You should have least 2 years of leadership experience in a global shared service center/BPO environment. 

Additionally, we are looking for:

  • Business fluency in English, also in the Japanese language is required.
  • Should have expert knowledge in the field of Employee Administration.
  • Should have experience in managing Tier 1 teams (i.e. teams handling calls and requests or first point of contact teams)
  • Extensive customer orientation and international experience.
  • Ability to work across business units/geographies; cultural sensitivity; strong external network providing access to best HR and talent practices and innovation.
  • Preferably with work experience in different HR roles.
  • Academic degree in Business or equivalent is preferred but not required.
