Specialist, Payroll Tax (US)
The Position
As a Specialist, Payroll Tax (US), you’ll be at the heart of ensuring our payroll operations run smoothly and compliantly. Your expertise will drive critical functions from conducting detailed payroll tax audits and managing employee tax updates and registrations, to leading year-end activities like W-2 preparation. You’ll be the go-to resource for employee payroll tax inquiries, providing clarity and confidence when it matters most.
But this role is more than just numbers, it’s about precision, partnership, and proactive problem-solving. You’ll test and validate tax-related system updates to ensure every detail aligns with regulatory standards. And you won’t do it alone: you’ll collaborate closely with our Payroll Team, HRIT, the Ridgefield Retained Organization, and trusted third-party vendors to deliver seamless, compliant, and employee-focused payroll tax solutions.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct payroll tax audits, process employee tax updates, and manage tax registrations.
- Process year-end payroll tax activities, including the preparation and distribution of W-2 forms.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employee payroll tax inquiries.
- Test and implement all tax-related system updates (e.g., OSS notes, BSI TUBS, HRSP packages), ensuring accuracy through user acceptance testing (UAT).
- Manage quarterly balancing and reconciliation of federal and state taxes, including timely online filing.
- Research, analyze, and resolve payroll tax issues, including corrections to employee tax profiles and resolution of tax-related cases.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations by reviewing legislation, enforcing adherence, and advising management on required actions.
- Collaborate with HR and cross-functional teams to provide timely support, clear communication, and accurate payroll tax information.
About our future employee
- Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of payroll tax experience, including end-to-end payroll processing using SAP.
- Experience with payroll software platforms such as SAP HR, ADP Smart Compliance, and MyServices ticketing system (preferred).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office programs.
- CPP or FPC certification (preferred).
- Ability to learn new applications and processes related to payroll tax configuration, calculation, and assignment.
- Strong time management skills and ability to work independently.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Effective interpersonal and relationship-building abilities.
- Strong client relationship management skills.
- Amenable to night shift work
