Expert, Payroll Tax and Garnishment US

The Position

Are you an experienced US payroll professional with strong expertise in payroll tax and garnishments, ready to ensure accuracy, compliance, and process excellence in a dynamic environment?

In this role, you will oversee the end-to-end processing of US payroll taxes and garnishments, serving as the subject matter expert and primary point of contact for all related inquiries, issues, and activities. You will also review and apply updates related to taxes and garnishments in the payroll system, ensuring thorough testing prior to implementation.

Working closely with the US Payroll Team, HRIT, Ridgefield Retained Organization, and third-party vendors, you will support federal, state, and local tax processing, including registrations, filings, and year-end close activities such as the preparation and validation of W-2s and W-2Cs, while delivering high-quality customer service to employees.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Oversee US payroll tax and garnishment processing and serve as subject matter expert for all related activities
  • Reconcile US payroll tax reporting after each pay run to ensure accurate and timely tax filings
  • Ensure all US payroll tax and garnishment updates are fully tested and implemented in the system (e.g., UAT, OSS notes, BSI TUBS, HRSP packages)
  • Review and ensure timely submission of quarterly tax reports, reconciliations, and online filings
  • Investigate, analyze, and resolve payroll tax and garnishment issues, including employee tax profile corrections
  • Manage year-end close activities, including preparation and validation of W-2s and W-2Cs
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations, and advise on required actions
  • Collaborate with HR, Payroll, and cross-functional teams to provide accurate information and support business requirements
  • Ensure accurate processing of garnishment deductions and compliance with all related requirements
  • Drive process improvements to enhance efficiency and service delivery

About Our Future Employee

  • Degree in Business or related field
  • 4+ years of experience in US payroll tax, including federal, state, and local tax processing
  • Strong knowledge of payroll systems (SAP experience) and tax reporting processes
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Experience with payroll tools (e.g., SAP HR, ECP, ADP) is an advantage
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to work independently with strong time management and accountability
  • Certification (e.g., CPP, FPC) is an advantage
