Key Account Specialist

THE POSITION

The Key Account Specialist (KAS) drives appropriate patient access to BI’s portfolio across priority Key Accounts and Integrated Care. The role leads the development and execution of account plans, applying strong business acumen and a deep understanding of the therapy area and NHS landscape. It builds trusted, sustainable partnerships with healthcare professionals and strategic decision makers, using available resources to identify opportunities, communicate a holistic value story, and support appropriate local uptake of medicines in line with the Franchise objectives. The KAS works collaboratively through a ONE TEAM approach to support Strategic Account Management and engage the NHS at a system level, while ensuring full compliance with ABPI/IPHA codes and BIUKIE SOPs.

Tasks & responsibilities
      

Account Planning

  • Creates system‑level account goals aligned to brand/disease priorities.
  • Uses insight‑driven analysis to develop account plans with the XF Team Lead.
  • Aligns opportunities to the Franchise objectives and communicates impact to the cross‑functional team.
  • Tracks progress and impact against account goals.

Customer Experience

  • Builds expert knowledge of NHS/HSE structures and local guidelines.
  • Develops strong relationships with key decision makers and is seen as an expert in therapy and brand knowledge.
  • Engages all cross‑functional colleagues when needed.
  • Proactively gathers market insights to anticipate and shape the environment.
  • Networks across customer organisations to create mutual value.

Product Promotion

  • Delivers confident, balanced clinical arguments to influence prescribing behaviour.
  • Uses all resources to effectively promote BI products and maximise appropriate patient access.
  • Drives formulary inclusion and delivers payer value stories and tailored solutions.
  • Identifies opportunities that create value at population‑health level.
  • Communicates a strong holistic data value story and secures customer commitment.

Requirements

  • Thorough understanding of the healthcare environment, priorities and networks.
  • Aptitude to develop high level of product, competitor, therapy area, brand strategy and NHS environment knowledge.
  • Previous sales experience or role within NHS preferred.
  • Understanding and experience of Account Management.
  • Demonstrate ability to work collaboratively across functions.
  • Commercial & regulatory environment knowledge.
  • Knowledge of internal processes.

Degree or equivalent experience

  • ABPI qualification.
  • Digitally literate (Microsoft Word, Excel, TEAMs and Outlook).
  • Clean driving licence.
