Designed for recently graduated talent, our program offers an immersive, hands‑on experience that bridges academic learning with real‑world application, preparing participants for successful careers in the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors.

Based in Portugal, TalentForward spans multiple functional areas, including research and development, marketing, medical affairs, finance, and market access. Trainees gain broad exposure to the pharmaceutical industry, working in a patient‑centric environment and developing both technical and professional skills.

Through mentorship from experienced professionals, meaningful project work, and collaboration across teams, the program supports skill development, industry knowledge, adaptability, and strong professional networks—enhancing employability and long‑term career readiness.

 

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are looking for a talented and motivated Clinical Operations Trainee. During your internship you will interact with various departments from our team in Portugal and gather hands-on experience within the medical area. The internship will run for one year and you will have the chance to experience different challenges across different departments.

You will be working from Boehringer Ingelheim’s offices in Portugal.

 

Your key responsibilities

  • Support the main clinical operations start-up activities: country and site feasibilities, contracts negotiation, regulatory submission documents preparation, study budgets planning and control, recruitment initiatives;
  • Support the team in the activities and initiatives related with site and patient engagement.
  • Contribute to communications to Medical Affairs and external experts;
  • Support the preparation and follow up of contracts and payments;
  • Manage the internal documentation and archival related with CD&O activities;
  • Support/coordinate preparation of meetings (internal/external) and events;
  • Closely collaborate with other departments such as compliance, purchasing, pharmacovigilance, regulatory affairs, medical information, medical affairs etc.

 

What you should bring to the team

  • Your passion, creativity and enthusiasm;
  • Bachelors or Master’s degree in Life Sciences;
  • Excellent command of the Portuguese and English language is mandatory;
  • A first experience in the pharmaceutical industry and/or clinical trials/GCP training is considered a plus;
  • Skilled for understanding and communicating scientific information;
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Accountable: Prioritizes work and drives execution excellence through accuracy, discipline and collaboration;
  • Good digital/technology skills;
  • Taste for challenging and eager to learn;
  • Ability to influence other stakeholders in a matrix organization.

 

Application and Selection Process

The selection process is conducted through successive elimination stages, starting with an initial screening by the Human Resources Team together with the different functional areas. Selected candidates will be invited to a functional interview. Candidates who are successful in the functional interview will then be invited to take part in a Selecting Panel at Boehringer Ingelheim’s premises, where they will participate in a group challenge (development of a team-based business case) and deliver an individual pitch on personal and professional development aspirations aligned with the trainee position at Boehringer Ingelheim.

 

Timelines

  • Invitations to join the Selecting Panel: February 20
  • In‑person Selecting Panel at Boehringer Ingelheim Portugal offices: February 26
  • Functional interview: February 27
  • Program start date: April 1, 2026
