Medical Science Liaison
The Position

The Medical Science Liaison role will support the strategic scientific direction of Boehringer Ingelheim through the provision of clinical and scientific information/data to health professionals via scientific exchanges and presentations. These exchanges provide the necessary background for health professionals to make sound clinical decisions in the treatment of patients and allow the MSL to gain understanding of current treatment and management of patients locally.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Identify and interact with External Experts (EEs) through credible and accurate medical/scientific exchanges of information, and appropriately document scientific exchanges
- Identify new EEs and validate existing EEs for inclusion in the EE Management Plan, and build advocacy through scientific engagement
- Convey expert clinical knowledge and engage stakeholders through face-to-face meetings, scientific events, and advisory activities
- Build discussions around Healthcare Professionals (HCPs) and patient care needs, and identify opportunities to support optimal medical care and therapeutic solutions
- Provide solutions to address unmet medical needs in collaboration with cross-functional teams, and support HCPs in implementing diagnostic and disease management guidelines
- Respond to medical information queries, support scientific congress activities, and stay up to date with relevant data and publications
- Deliver scientific expertise on product and disease state knowledge through individual and group presentations
- Contribute to cross-functional collaboration with external stakeholders (e.g., doctors, KOLs) and internal teams (Medical, Marketing & Sales) by sharing insights, supporting brand plans, and participating in internal and external meetings
- Support clinical development, market access, and field force activities, including site identification, training, and dossier preparation
- Ensure compliance with all regulations and company policies, while supporting research collaborations and investigator-initiated studies
About Our Future Employee
- Bachelor’s degree in life/health sciences or other medicine-related discipline; advanced degree (e.g., MD, PhD, MBA) is an advantage
- At least 1–2 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, MSL role, or related scientific/clinical area; experience in the metabolic therapeutic area is an advantage
- Strong presentation skills, with the ability to deliver scientific content effectively
- Ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop and strengthen trusted partnerships
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to use technical and digital tools, including Microsoft Office 365, and aptitude for learning new systems
- Ability to manage time and resources effectively
- Demonstrates proactive attitude, growth mindset, agility, emotional intelligence, teamwork, resilience, and accountability
- Willingness to travel nationwide or within the assigned territory
- Ability to meet key performance indicators (KPIs) associated with responsibilities
- Knowledge of local healthcare systems and clinical practices related to patient care is preferred
