Senior Scientist RWE Data & Analytics
The Position

In this role, you will play a crucial part in generating real-world evidence (RWE) to support both our in-line and pipeline products, ensuring their success and value. You will provide expert statistical advice on the analysis of real-world data (RWD), collaborating with a variety of internal and external stakeholders. Additionally, you will contribute to shaping our RWD acquisition strategy and evaluating innovative tools to drive data-driven decision-making. Tasks & responsibilities
- Serve as statistical lead for internally conducted real world database studies, including writing analytical sections of research protocols, managing delivery of analyses, and reporting results in accordance to Boehringer standards as well as international regulations
- Provide expert advice in the analysis of real world data (such as medical claims, electronic health records) for stakeholders in epidemiology, market access / HEOR, medical affairs, and other functional areas. These analyses may include: Treatment patterns and drug utilization, Resource utilization and burden of disease, as well as Incidence and prevalence of diseases of interest, Cost-effectiveness, Comparative effectiveness and safety
- Keep the team up-to-date with regards to innovative methods and technologies to maximize the value of RWD according to business needs. As such represent Boehringer Ingelheim in international working groups such as IHI initiatives
- Evaluate real-world data sources for possible in-license/ purchase and additional analytical tools for in-house analytic needs and drive tokenization.
- Maintain records for all assigned projects and archive project analysis and associated documentation following internal BI rules
- Mentor new team members and provide training and communications regarding current and new methodologies.
Requirements
- Graduate degree of PhD (preferable and highly desirable) in pharmacoepidemiology, health outcomes, health informatics, health economics, biostatistics or equivalent. Alternatively, Master of Science in any of the above disciplines. Minimum three (for PhD) to seven (for MSc) years of experience in applied analytic disciplines depending on level of graduate degree.
- Mandatory experience on statistical-epidemiological analysis of large real-world datasets from automated healthcare databases (EMR and/ or claims) as well as knowledge of coding systems used in healthcare and pharmacovigilance databases (e.g., ICD9/10, CPT, etc.); ideally as well experience with data in common data model format OMOP
- Mandatory experience working with large healthcare databases such as Optum, CPRD, or similar
- Understanding of the principles of and experience in the design, conduct and issues in epidemiological/ observational research and/ or Health Economics and Outcomes Research.
- Advanced knowledge of epidemiologic methods and/or health economics, such as propensity score analysis and marginal structural modeling
- Working experience in R/ Posit, Python, ShinyApps, SQL; ideally as well in IHD and OHDSI
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, including the ability to produce documents and emails which are adapted to the needs of the audience.
- Strong organizational, time-management and prioritization skills necessary to evaluate, plan and accomplish multiple work goals in a timely fashion.
