Senior Legal Counsel
The Position
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Legal Counsel to play a pivotal role in shaping our legal strategy and driving business success. As a trusted advisor to senior leadership, you will translate high-level business goals into actionable legal frameworks, proactively manage risks, and ensure compliance with regulatory and corporate standards. This role offers the opportunity to lead innovative legal solutions, navigate complex challenges, and make a lasting impact in a fast-paced, global pharmaceutical environment.
This position has a hybrid setup with approximately 3 days per week on site.
Tasks & responsibilities
- Provide Legal Advice: In your new role, you will offer independent legal counsel to protect company interests at both corporate and country levels.
- Risk Management: You will collaborate with business partners to identify and evaluate risks, delivering solutions that balance legal and commercial considerations.
- Solution Implementation: You will communicate and implement solutions to complex problems, share best practices on a global scale and participate in cross-functional teams and projects to integrate legal considerations into planning and operations.
- Legal Strategy Coordination: You will coordinate with subject matter experts and external counsel to ensure consistent legal strategies. Moreover, you will monitor the external legal, commercial, and pharmaceutical environment, including competitors, to identify and drive appropriate legal activities.
- Policy Development: You will develop and implement legal policies and guidelines to ensure compliance with international laws and regulations.
- Legal Training: You will design and deliver tailored legal training to enhance organizational understanding of legal topics.
- Legal Innovation: You will anticipate legal and business partner needs to drive innovation and improve legal services.
- Strategic Goal Setting: You will independently identify and advance the strategic goals of the legal function.
Requirements
- Fully qualified lawyer or comparable degree in a common law country with several years of experience. Additional qualifications (e.g., LL.M/MBA) are welcome.
- In-depth knowledge of the pharmaceutical market and competitive environment, including regulatory requirements and trends, with a focus on commercial topics.
- Substantive knowledge and experience in pharmaceutical-related law, along with a good understanding of the applicable laws in major international markets.
- Ability to think "out of the box" to effectively assess risks and opportunities and proven ability to develop solutions for complex tasks and processes, offering pragmatic recommendations within a team environment.
- Entrepreneurial and business-oriented mindset with the ability to focus and prioritize effectively.
- Ability to think and act globally and communicate effectively within culturally diverse teams.
- Business fluency in English, with outstanding oral and written communication and presentation skills, including negotiation capabilities.
