Senior Global Medical Manager, Lead Rheumatology

The Senior Global Medical Advisor designs and drives early global medical affairs pipeline and evidence strategies for Rheumatology and Inflammation compounds, leads strategic initiatives and provides expert guidance. Acts as a medical ambassador for the asset, engages internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful commercialization and lifecycle management.
Tasks & responsibilities
- Develop and implement global medical and evidence strategies for Rheumatology and Inflammation, ensuring scientific leadership and portfolio alignment.
- Lead cross-functional teams in designing robust medical affairs strategies and advancing product profiles and evidence plans from early development through lifecycle management.
- Drive evidence generation by leveraging pre-clinical, clinical, real-world data, advanced analytics, and AI to deliver impactful evidence packages.
- Establish and execute COA/PRO strategies early to produce patient-relevant evidence that supports regulatory approval, market access, asset differentiation, and cross-functional alignment.
- Collaborate closely with pipeline teams to create compelling medical narratives and medical affairs plans aligned with global strategies.
- Lead publication planning, data dissemination, and execution of critical medical activities such as clinical trials and external collaborations.
- Chair and actively participate in global medical teams and cross-functional leadership groups, offering expert medical guidance.
- Provide medical and scientific expertise for educational programs, symposia, and communication campaigns.
- Engage proactively with external stakeholders, including health authorities, expert groups, patient organizations, and payers, while monitoring the competitive landscape to inform strategic decisions.
Requirements
- A completed MD, PhD, or equivalent degree in fields related to human health, such as Medicine or Pharmacy, is essential
- Extensive experience in medical affairs, ideally in a global capacity, with a strong preference for long-term expertise in Rheumatology and/or Inflammation
- Demonstrate deep knowledge in data generation, particularly in real-world evidence planning and COA/PRO strategies, extending beyond Boehringer-sponsored clinical trials, including dissemination through scientific publications
- A strong background in leading and collaborating within matrix teams at global, regional, or local levels
- Outstanding communication abilities, complemented by skills in delivering presentations, conducting training, and facilitating discussions effectively
- Demonstrated success in cross-functional collaboration, with the ability to excel in virtual and matrix team environments
- A strong external orientation, fostering connections with the international scientific community, leading medical experts, and other key stakeholders
- Display a proactive, analytical, and impact-driven mindset, coupled with excellent teamwork capabilities
- Flexibility to travel internationally, with up to 30% travel during peak periods
- Fluency in English, ensuring clear and professional communication across diverse stakeholders
