Senior Category Manager - Drug Substance & Drug Product

Tasks & responsibilities

  • As Senior Category Manager, you develop and implement sourcing strategies for complex global categories that will set new standards with regards to speed to market especially focused on the new technologies, long term sustainable sourcing decision, competitive sourcing, and productivity.
  • Through active supplier management you strive to guarantee a supply, which leads to revenue growth for our critical products and keep a close eye on the market to identify sourcing risks as well as corresponding mitigation activities. 
  • You lead cross-functional teams that implement innovative processes which result in external cost reduction and are compliant with any legal requirements.
  • Furthermore, you collaborate closely with the Head of Global Category in critical negotiations to maximize our competitive advantage.  
  • Contributing your market knowledge, you analyze internal demand and ensure an optimal supply.
  • Finally, you contribute your knowledge and new ideas to cross category projects and lead them to success.

Requirements

  • Master’s or bachelor’s degree and relevant work experience in business administration, pharmacy and/or chemistry
  • Long-term experience in supply management on a global basis for a pharmaceutical company, ideally in global category management
  • Several years’ track record in working with GxP combined with knowledge of category strategies and stakeholder management
  • Specific market intelligence and sourcing experience in API/ Chemicals, Chemical Intermediates and/ or CDMO required.
  • Profound knowledge of demand management, market and supplier analysis, due diligence, risk management, contract and supplier management 
  • Open-minded, motivated, persuasive, and perseverant personality with outstanding internal and external relationship management skills and willingness to take on responsibility
  • Fluency in English, German knowledge is a plus
