Postdoc Lab Automation
The Position
Join us in advancing the future of pharmaceutical process development by driving cutting-edge laboratory automation and modern experimental design in a highly innovative, data-driven environment at our global headquarters in Ingelheim, Germany. You will design tailor-made automation solutions for next-generation drug candidates while collaborating with interdisciplinary experts across chemistry, engineering, and data science - and engaging with the global scientific community through conferences and technology events. This role is offered as a fixed-term (limited) contract and combines breakthrough science with exceptional quality of life in one of Germany’s leading research regions.
This position is limited for 2 years.
This position is part time eligible with 80 %.

Tasks & responsibilities
- Design, implement, and operate automated laboratory workflows for chemical process development.
- Develop and apply modern strategies of experimental design, including statistical Design of Experiments (DoE).
- Integrate automation hardware and digital tools to enable efficient and reproducible experimentation.
- Analyze experimental data to derive reliable process understanding and optimization strategies.
- Collaborate closely with chemists, engineers, and data scientists in interdisciplinary project teams.
- Present results internally and externally, including contributions to international conferences and exhibitions.
Requirements
- PhD in chemistry, chemical or electrical engineering, or a related scientific discipline.
- Background in organic chemistry or laboratory automation and robotics, with preference for profiles combining both.
- Experience with laboratory automation, data‑driven experimentation, or advanced experimental methodologies.
- Solid knowledge of statistical experimental design and multivariate data analysis.
- Ability to work independently in a structured and goal‑oriented manner.
- Fluent written and spoken English, German skills are advantageous.
