Post Doc Electro Chemistry
The Position
Our Drug Substance Development NCE department manages the development of manufacturing processes for new drug candidates from early development to first market production. Starting with the development of new synthetic routes, chemistry progresses to optimized manufacturing processes, fulfilling all current needs with respect to safety, sustainability and regulatory requirements.Working on the future of chemical process development. To reach this goal we are searching a highly motivated and innovative postdoctoral fellow working in the field of electro-chemical synthesis, ideally by flow chemistry, for our chemical process development for new small molecule projects.
This position is limited for 2 years.
Note: To make it easier to find our job advertisements, we use the usual designation "postdoc". Of course, this advertisement is not only addressed to applicants directly after completing their doctorate, but to all qualified candidates.
Tasks & responsibilities
- In your new role, you will be responsible for managing a BMFTR-financed project within BI together with a multi-disciplinary team of colleagues.
- It will be your goal to implement electrochemistry for small molecules as a new synthetic option within the BI organization (i.e.development departments).
- With your expertise, you extensively apply and develop together with the BMFTR-project team innovative approaches for faster process optimization and scale-up, e.g. using flow chemistry advantages.
- You design appropriate workflows for efficient experimental studies, i.e. quick evaluations and material supply especially for the early phase.
- In a team of other Postdocs, you will have the opportunity to present your results in publications and at international conferences.
- Thanks to your outstanding networking skills, you work with colleagues across the Drug Substance Development NCE of Boehringer Ingelheim and with adjacent functional areas such as Drug Substance Development NCE US and Chemical Research.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry, preferably with special focus on electrochemical synthesis, in batch and flow set-ups
- Profound experience in organic synthesis and a pronounced affinity for technical challenges is required
- Experience in statistical/mechanistical approaches for process optimization are desirable (e.g. DoE, Kinetic Modelling or Bayesian Optimization)
- Teamplayer with an independent working style
- Fluent in English
Applications from persons with severe disabilities are warmly welcomed. In cases of equal qualifications, such applicants will be given preferential consideration in the selection process.
