Negotiation Expert - Driving Strategic Partnerships

The Position 

As Negotiation Expert, you serve as the Center of Excellence within Purchasing at Boehringer Ingelheim. 
Your mission: to seamlessly incorporate negotiation excellence into our purchasing process in order to prevent supply chain disruptions and to ensure the steady availability of our health-critical products for our customers. By leveraging your expertise and innovative negotiation techniques you will not only contribute to the improvement of Boehringer Ingelheim's financial performance but also establish a competitive edge. Your contribution will be key in creating substantial value for Boehringer Ingelheim.

Tasks & responsibilities 

  • In your new role, you will define new negotiation strategies and prepare complex, strategic negotiations in collaboration with Category Managers, Global Category Heads and Business Partners (direct and indirect spend). 
  • With your expertise, you will ensure that the best negotiation technique is used for each case, contributing to the achievement of the organization's long-term vision. 
  • You will lead complex negotiation activities in the various sourcing areas and participate in Category Manager and/or Business Partner negotiations, when necessary (e.g., for high impact Contracts, critical negotiations (e.g., where supply chain might be interrupted or supplier(s), place irrational demands for critical categories etc.).
  • In addition, you will consult and train the ONE Sourcing organization to develop and apply new required capabilities. 
  • Furthermore, you will be an expert in the implementation of negotiation techniques, act as a process owner of innovative negotiation tools and continuously develop them further. 

Requirements 

  • Master's degree in business administration, economics or equivalent, alternatively bachelor's degree with several years of relevant professional experience 
  • Several years of negotiation and consulting experience as well as certifications from various established and well-known negotiation institutes (please indicate in your CV) 
  • Relevant knowledge of various negotiation techniques (e. g. game theory, parallel negotiations)  
  • Result-oriented approach coupled with moderation and persuasion skills and the necessary know-how to support various stakeholders 
  • Very good communication and negotiation skills in English and German, coupled with a good understanding of Anglo-Saxon and German law and corresponding legal terminology
