Legal Engineer

The Position

As a Legal Engineer (Senior Legal Operations Manager) in Corporate Legal Contracting Services, you will play a pivotal role in transforming and operating Boehringer Ingelheim’s global legal support model for contracting. With a primary focus on global contract template harmonization, you will drive the standardization and structured design of legal content and help build scalable, technology-enabled and AI-ready contracting solutions. This position offers a unique opportunity to shape future-ready legal service delivery by combining legal operations, legal engineering and pragmatic implementation.

This position has a hybrid setup with approximately 2-3 days per week on site.

This position is part time eligible with min. 80 %.

Please note that the internal position title for this role is Senior Legal Operations Manager.

Tasks & responsibilities

  • In your new role you will drive operational excellence through standardization, lean process design, automation and AI-enabled ways of working. 
  • With a focus on global contract template harmonization, you will support the standardization, harmonization and structured design of templates to enable scalable contracting, automation and AI-ready use cases. 
  • By identifying opportunities to globalize legal support, you will help further streamline and synchronize Boehringer Ingelheim’s legal support model. 
  • Design and implement technology-enabled contracting solutions in close collaboration with Legal, business and technology stakeholders. 
  • Finally, you will lead and advise on global initiatives to enhance operational excellence. 

Requirements

  • Master’s degree (or equivalent) with several years of relevant experience in Legal, or Bachelor’s degree in Law, Economics, Data Science, Informatics, Information Management or related business fields with long-term experience
  • Strong background in legal operational topics (operational excellence, process design, data-driven assessment & judgement, challenge the status quo)
  • Proven experience in legal engineering and AI readiness, with the ability to translate legal requirements into structured templates, scalable processes, data structures, templates, automation and AI technology-enabled use cases solutions
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to analyze, design and implement effective processes
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic, global environment with a proactive and collaborative work ethic
  • Ability to collaborate effectively, proactively and pragmatically and maintain an optimistic outlook
  • Excellent communication skills, with fluency in English and the ability to influence across functions and cultures
