Head of GMP Operations

The Position

Are you ready to take a leadership role and drive innovation at the forefront of pharmaceutical development? As Head of GMP Operations, you will be responsible for driving excellence in GMP manufacturing and packaging of Investigational Veterinary Products within a dynamic development framework. In this role, you will spearhead the implementation of new technologies at pilot scale, shaping the future of drug development. Your leadership will have a direct impact on functional excellence and the creation of pharmaceutical products valued between €20 million and €500+ million. This will advance groundbreaking therapies for patients worldwide.

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Your responsibilities will include leading pilot plant activities to ensure the manufacturing of GMP materials for clinical supply, submission purposes and process development for pharmaceutical NCE drug products (DP) in Animal Health.
  • It is your responsibility to ensure operational efficiency by maintaining compliant documentation, identifying any process deviations, and troubleshooting to keep projects on schedule.
  • As Head of Manufacturing, it is your responsibility to fulfil the role in compliance with Annex 16 of the EU GMP Guide for the Ingelheim site.
  • This position presents an opportunity to foster innovation by introducing state-of-the-art technologies in GMP manufacturing and continuously improving processes to ensure a competitive advantage within the industry.
  • You will have the opportunity to motivate and develop your team by providing leadership, supervision and training, thereby ensuring that the department achieves functional excellence.
  • Managing pilot plant operations will also be part of your remit, where you will ensure compliance with regulatory, corporate and EHS standards while maintaining fiscal responsibility.

Requirements

  • PhD (or equivalent qualification) in Life or Chemical Sciences, Pharmacy or Technology
  • Several years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, with a particular focus on manufacturing and GMP
  • Several years of professional experience in leadership and management, with a focus on the supervision of direct reports.
  • Proven experience of working in a cross-functional setting, involving frequent interaction with both internal and external partners
  • Demonstrated capability in building high performing teams
  • The ability to establish successful new processes and technologies
  • Fluency in German and English is mandatory
