This position can be filled in Ingelheim or Biberach.
This position has a hybrid setup with approximately 2-3 days per week on site.
This position is part time eligible with 80%.
Tasks & responsibilities
- In your new role, you will lead and integrate a team of experts with different backgrounds in clinical development and translational science in Experimental Medicine Eye Health & Emerging Areas.
- Furthermore, you will define high quality and innovative clinical biomarker strategies to enable disease positioning, patient selection, novel endpoints, and early decision making.
- In close collaboration with internal and external partners, your team will be accountable for the successful implementation of the biomarker strategy in clinical studies across all phases, incl. submission.
- Moreover, your team will design and execute translational medicine studies for patient characterization and novel endpoints in close collaboration with internal and external experts. This may include your participation in academic and industrial consortia.
- With your team you will provide input into the preclinical identification of candidate biomarkers and the assessment of their usefulness during clinical development.
- In addition, you will act as the primary internal reference contact concerning translational and biomarker approaches in your disease area.
- You will have to supervise your team to follow ICH/GCP and local regulations during trial conduct.
- Besides, you will ensure timely input of your team for cleaning and delivery of clinical trial data and completion of the CTR as well as support the publication of trial data.
Requirements
- Medical degree or PhD with strong working experience in ophthalmology
- Several years of working experience in the development and implementation of biomarker concepts in a pharmaceutical or diagnostic company in ophthalmology
- Strong leadership skills and a profound understanding of clinical drug development and applicable regulatory requirements
- Strong disease-area knowledge incl scientific understanding of preclinical models, clinical pathophysiology and therapeutic modalities approved or in development
- Deep understanding of analysis methods of soluble and image-based biomarkers incl advanced AI-based image analysis and predictive analytics
- Ability to handle complexity in drug development and the management of interfaces
- Evidence of strategic and creative thinking, solid negotiation skills and strong team-work competencies to successfully collaborate in a matrix environment
- The proficiency to present a well-reasoned business case (in English) and influence others to support cross-functional implementation of new initiatives and projects
- Fluency in English
